Q: How to measure to get the correct size

i just replaced the hinges on my cabinets . i can not tell you how to measure. here is what i did. if you have single door by itself a 1 1/4 . If you two doors that come together then you need a 1 1/2. be sure your cabinet already have this type of hinges are else they will not with out a lot of cabinet work. Hope this helps. Gary

Q: Are these self closing hinges?

Yes. After the cabinet door is past center or maybe 3/4 of the way to closed the cabinet door will spring closed. Not to be confused with the more modern self closing cabinet hardware that is self closing with a built in dampener to prevent slamming.When I bought these they came packed/sold in pairs, so I ended up with too many.

Sold in pairs. I thought they were individuals as well so I ordered two for each cupboard. Now I have extras.

Q: What does 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch overlay mean? Is it the size of the hinge or does it have something to do with the coating?

Overlay is how much a door overlays the frame at the hinge. Example. If door is 1 inch wider than opening. Then it would overlay each side 1/2 inch. Robert
