Try It You Will Like It!
I purchased this cookie press kit as a Christmas gift for my daughter who loves to bake. She has not received it yet so this review is "pre-use". Therefore, my review is geared towards potential "gifters" rather than from someone who has actually used the product. After opening the package and viewing the contents, it was obvious to me that it is of the highest quality. Lots of shiny metal - real metal, not chrome plated plastic - some of the metal (stainless steel) polished to a very high degree and some of the metal chrome plated. Maybe I am old-fashioned, but real metal is a big deal to me and shouts out real loud "VERY HIGH QUALITY". The "kit" is beautifully packaged in a case with pre-formed spots for the cookie press and all of its accessories. And it looks like a durable storage case that can stand the test of time. Lots of parts (= lots of different style cookies) but all of apparently highest quality. This is a pricey cookie press kit compared to others that I researched on Amazon as well as several other websites. But as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for." For me, I would rather spend more money on something really good and high quality like this than have a dozen of the cheaper ones that will last about one bake. One other thing - a few weeks after purchasing this cookie press kit from the seller, DKST Kitchen, I received a very nice postcard in the mail from the owners of DKST, a husband/wife team based out of Tasmania (Google it - it's not anywhere on this side of the planet). They thanked me for my purchase and personally signed the card. I have never in my life (I am 65 years old) received such a personal "thank you" card for purchasing something, and for this reason, as well as my perception of this kits' outstanding quality, I really feel that you can't go wrong with their cookie press kit.

DOES NOT WORK WELL
It advertises that this style is easier to use due to its pump action instead of trigger which is incorrect because the outside of the metal gun gets greasy due to the dough you are having to grip is harder around the barrel. As someone else has already stated the trigger does not engage properly making it also hard to press cookie. The is no consitant number of pumps for dispersing the cookie. You have to put more presser on the gun that you would to with a normal trigger style,

like it was binding
The first one I received would not work unless I pushed the rod catch by hand. The spring would not move it, like it was binding. No problem though I had a new replacement the next day and it works great. This is a well made cookie press, all working parts made of metal. If you purchase one, I see no reason it shouldn't last forever. As far as receiving a defective one, I understand that can happen. The important part is it was handled well and to my satisfaction.

Good product but a problem with the notch and lever.
My first time I used this it was a little difficult to continually push the cookie out. It seems like the lever moves away from the notches on the rod with each pump. I had to constantly push the lever back in the notch to continue to press the cookie. Maybe with some practice it will be better. Other than that I like the number of discs and that it has pastry tips. The case is very nice too it keeps everything organized. Another nice thing is that I emailed some questions when I was first using this and I got an immediate response. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with the lever and the notches? I have only had time to use this product once but I will be using it again soon to make cookies for Christmas. Hopefully I won’t have the problem with the lever/notches.

Looks sturdy, it IS NOT STURDY.
When we first got this, it looked great. WE thought okay, this will be a great tool. Then we used it. The first 12 or so through the press came out well and had good shape. Then we noticed that the press stopped pressing when we squeezed the handle. And of course, no cookies coming out. So we took it apart, refilled it and tried again. Once again, no cookies and now we saw that the plunger was not moving when we squeezed the handle. Not good, failure already. Then we saw why. The spring under the handle that is supposed to activate and move a cog to the next spot on the plunger was not working. In short, total failure of the mechanics of the device. Unable to repair. Returned for refund. Bottom line, cheaply made, even though it looks sturdy. It is NOT STURDY.

Convenient and Compact
Love all the different discs and piping tubes. Having them in a case makes it easy to store, but wish the case was not so fragile. I had given my old spritz cookie gun to my daughter to use and never got it back, so this replacement press was my gift to myself.

Sorry I spent so much money on this press, had ones that worked better for less money
difficult to use, not able to use some of disc dough came out in blobs instead of shapes. when dough came out right it looked good tried on two different spritz recipes. Do not like that you can not put in dishwasher. Case would be nicer if it was hinged instead of lift off. Decorating tips not anchored in. Disappointed in product. Difficult to change thickness of dough from number 1 to 2 and back especially.

High quality cookie press
I shopped around a bit for a cookie press and knew I wanted a metal one this time. I have owned 2 plastic presses in the past and on one of them the collar cracked, and on the other the tube cracked. I only had the opportunity to use it once this holiday season to make Spritz and ran out of time to make Magic Carpet Cookies. This press has a nice smooth action, is easy to use, and I won't have throw it out after a few years. If you're going to use a cookie press more than once or twice, I highly recommend it.
