The funny thing is, like many in the West who are not familiar with this tea (many Asian cultures have known and been drinking this tea for centuries), my first encounter with it was the infamous "Galaxy Lemonade." We wanted to try the recipe and see the changing-color lemonade for ourselves. The ice cubes you make from the tea of this flower is the main ingredient for that recipe. Then we got it, I started to drink the tea on its own and really enjoyed the flavor. When you look more into it, this tea has so many wonderful health and beauty benefits, it is incredible! Now one of my favorite teas, I usually order the Green Garden brand because you can tell the flowers are pure just by the taste (I even eat a few straight out of the bag sometimes as a quick pre-snack) and it is one of the best ones out there online. I love the packaging and the little serving spoon it comes with, and the quality of the flowers themselves (once you get into this tea you come to find there are many products out there which are not as pure and are usually mixed with other substances which take away from the flavor and the benefits than the higher quality flowers). If you like tea, and have not tried the "blue" tea, I highly recommend it, and I recommend purchasing this one. This is one of my favorite loose version of the flowers (there are tea bags out there but if you want the flowers to try beauty home recipes or in cooking, this pack is the way to go, at least online). I just received my butterfly pea flowers tonight and I already gave it a try! The wooden spoon it comes with is so adorable. I didn't realize that the end of the spoon is shaped kind of like a heart which made me smile. The spoon itself is much more sturdy than expensive tea spoons I have purchased at places like World Market.I tried the tea first hot. Very cool to see the bright blue color spreading through the water. Then I added honey and made it into an iced tea....which I don't think I recommend. The flowers smell and taste just as I expected- very "earthy", but not in a bitter way, more like cooked spinach. So in my opinion, it would have been better without honey and with lemon as a soothing hot tea. (I don't have any lemon at the moment, so I couldn't try the cool color change) The color is definitely bold enough to dye foods and clothing, so that will be fun to experiment with. I will be trying a sugary lemonade and a gin cocktail with the tea this weekend. I'm not sure what reviewers who complain of the flavor were expecting, fruit punch? It's a bag of dried flowers. If you're okay with the earthy, spinach flavor I described, you should give it a try! It's good for you and it looks cool, so why not.

This tea is just fantastic, plain and simple, and I can't emphasize enough how awesome this particular brand is. Last year I had purchased butterfly pea tea from another source but it was incredibly cheap, barely brewed up as even a faint blue, and the flavor was stale. This tea, however, brews a deep ocean-cobalt blue color that's stunning to look at. The tea I received didn't look stale and was fresh and vibrant in color. It's flavor is smooth, delicate, and delightfully floral, and I would highly recommend steeping it with lavender if you have any on hand. The color-changing aspect of the tea is just incredible to and I always look forward to sharing it with guests. This tea has also worked fantastically in color-changing cocktails and lemonades I've made too. Seriously, don't think twice about this stuff and just get it.

I was pretty excited to receive this bag of organic butterfly pea tea. It was somewhat of an impulse buy since I usually eye my herbs, supplements and health related products for a while before choosing which ones to get. But this tea claimed to turn blue, and it has antioxidants. Good enough for me!When this bag of herbs first arrived, it looked a LOT like a bunch of dried broccoli through the clear window in the bag. Then when I smelled it, I was surprised that it smelled a lot like broccoli as well!As soon as I infused these dried flowers in my glass teapot, the hot water instantly began turning a faint light blue, with visible whisps of blue color curling out from the deep blue herb.Soon enough, it turned into an amazingly vivid deep navy blue color that appeared dark purple around the edges. I was especially excited because I'm always looking for natural products that have multiple purposes. These butterfly pea flowers will make a perfect natural dye for soap, and other DIY products.The taste is strong and bitter, and it isn't too pleasant to me.This herb package comes with a small wooden spoon that's glued heavily to the front of the bag. I don't know if the big blobs of glue will ever come off the spoon. It took some huffing and puffing to even pull the spoon off the bag in the first place. The whole handle is covered in lots of hard glue that is improssible to ever take off.Overall, I'm elated by the vibrant blue color, but pretty disappointed with the unusual broccoli-like taste. Don't get me wrong- broccoli is my favorite vegetable. However, I'd never turn it into a drink just because of that fact. Some solids should stay solid and some liquids should stay liquid. The quality and freshness of the butterfly pea flowers seems pretty good, so I think some people may possibly enjoy the unusual taste.These Butterfly Pea flowers are pretty potent. The color and taste are produced very easily by a small amount. So when you try it for the first time, I recommend starting out with a tiny amount of the flower and building up from there.Update: I made natural blue dye and posted a video of it on my wellness sites! I infused a handful of these flowers in some vegetable glycerin and kept it tightly shut in a mason jar for a couple weeks. I made sure to shake it every few days. Then I used a metal tea infuser with micro holes to strain the herb, and ended up with an incredibly vivid blue natural dye. I plan to use this soon in my soap bars and bath bombs. No use taking shortcuts if I'm going to go natural!

I purchased this to create the popular color changing lemonade. It brews a very true blue color. If you keep it in the fridge for a day or two before using, it will change to a deep violet on its own, without adding an acid like lemonade. The taste alone is not my preference, but it truly is good combined with lemonade. I love that they included a little spoon too. Nice quality product, great packaging.
