Heartwarming
There’s isn’t a movie out there that warms my heart as much as Going My Way. I’ve seen it over a dozen times and tear up at the end every time.If there were more Fr. O’Malleys in the world, the world would be a much better place.

Wonderful old Christmas movie!
Very entertaining Christmas movie. You'll laugh and get a lump in your throat. Great for all ages. Now a family tradition every Christmas 🎁 Wonderful music also.

Nostalgia at its very best!
Going my way was a good movie when it first came out and is still a good movie these many decades later. Yes it is light. But the music (especially Rise Stevens singing her special aria) was warm. The actors were uniformly good. A return to a movie era that emphasized moral values rather than anger and violence, was wonderful. It really was "the good old days."

A product of its time.
A sentimental Bing Crosby vehicle, following up on the Oscar- winning success of his Father O'Mally character from "Going My Way?".

It's a wonderful Christmas movie
An Oscar winning gem on par with It's a Wonderful Life. Interesting that both movies were made as WWII came to an end. Out of the horror and despair of that conflict, the hope and love of humanity rises.

old conflicts loom large..subtely suggested in great film
Going my way was a smash hit of 1944 with many academy award nominations as war time audiences flocked to see it many times..showing that during the stresses and conflicts of the war, it gave war time audiences some organization to put their faith in, embodying their religious/cultural views. A review is no place for politics but there were popular church novels stories the father brown detective novels(volumes 12 and 13 collected works,Chesterton Ignatius)the n the fictions of Graham Greene/evelyn waugh later the chicago novels of andrew m greeley with his priest hero, the Irish novels, and stories like Thy Brother's Wife, Virgin and Martyr, Cardinal Sins/Virtues..also from ancient times the church preceeded the modern state, and battled for the people's affections? There is a hint of that in this novel, and als the experience of the conscientous objector, especially world war 1 where famous objectors like Bertrand Russell were jailed(although he supported the second war). Thats a bit of history behind this film and here we have 1944 a prelate educated in the old ways of being a priest authoritarian and setting down the rules, must deal with young unruly gangs, more disposed to the new prelate as well as other younger priessts, who decided not to join the war effort, as religious, but in a new approach of expressing their faith work in the inner city slums. The new approach as displayed by bing the singing priest, are not rules and prohibitions but as the title song, Going my Way, relating to the various elements in the city and trying a more easygoing approach..and he achieves some success and for that reason has some problems with the older prelate and this forms the tension in the story? We also follow Bing's relationships with a young girl trying to make it big in New York as a singer and he offers her $10..survival money and she later married I believe a military person runs away and gets on her father's bad side..and bing wonders about the two of them..the slum boys are involved in singing, and their interaction with the father are entertaining as he becomes a guru, and there is the 30's irish cop who despairing of the old father, who disapproves of his lax church attendance, reaches out to Father bing to stop the youth terrorism..the irish cops of the time along the east coast, the 1930's/40's and you can see it in the recently issued dvd The Great O'malley(same as Bing's name in this film)in this film is a more appropriate figure the film doesnt want to be involve din a drama regarding policing..the ideas are conflicts around the church..and the Bing character listens more to the church figure than these older prelates wary even of police intrusions. The movie deals with many conflicts of church life and the independence of people of faith(subtely hinted at) as it relates to the government. The film one many academy awards and as a smooth singing parson, bing warms your hearts and the songs are great..and bing is referred to as the "crooner"..easygoing approachable..not likely to take offense..a new way of doing ministry. It was very unusual for a famous film to have a sequel, but the following year The Bells of ST Mary's was released also starring Bing. At the end of the film the church burns down..and there's a story to follow as where left hanging..who burned it down..how are we going to build a new one..and why? A christmas film and a great film and these films actually had to pass church censors of some sort..even such a later controversial film with delicate issues like The Left Hand of God(though they were made..but today they would be made in a more provocative way like the Thornbirds).

What a ripp off / Was für eine Abzocke / scheint illegal gebrannt zu sein.
Horror Quality / Die Bild Qualität ist unter aller S..Erscheint mir eine "Heimkopie" einer alten VHS Aufnahme zu sein.Sowas geht gar nicht.
