480GB Aura N2 NVMe Solid State Drive Compatible with Select 2013 and Later Macs

Bought about a year, the ssd unit works perfect on my macbookair

I purchased this to replace the SSD on my wife’s MacBook Pro, which had failed completely. And it works perfectly. I also purchased a small toolkit (iFixit Moray) that had the necessary pentalobe and tiny torx bits, since I didn’t have those. The manufacturer has installation videos at macsales.com, which walk you through the process. The hardest part is keeping track of the 8 tiny screws on the case and the one holding the hard drive in place. Fortunately, the toolkit had a handy lid/tray to hold the screws, and magnetic tips to hold onto them. I doubt it took me more than 15 minutes to do this, and I was moving slowly and showing my wife what I was doing at each step.

My 2015 Macbook Air only had 128 GB storage. I finally decided to swap in a new SSD. The installation couldn't have been easier. After removing the bottom of the laptop, it only takes the removal of one screw to replace the SSD. One problem I had was that of course once you swap in the new SSD, the Mac can't find an operating system to boot up with. So you have to go through a whole process to reload the OS in Recovery mode during booting. Took some time but eventually everything worked. Remember to BACK UP your old drive so you don't lose any files when you install the new SSD. One question I have is why is the capacity only 480 GB? Seems like an odd number. Why not 500 GB?

it works. I checked with the running system on it, but anyway results were smaller than supposed to be. With a bigger amount of data, it is even worst. So I will think am I want to keep SSD or return it. But if it's not critical for other people - should be good then.

Although it states clearly on the box that this drive is compatible with the Late 2014 Mac Mini, OWC could have saved me a few hours of stress by specifying that this drive is only compatible out of the box with mini's that have a SATA drive factory installed. I ordered mine with just an NVME drive, so there was no way to upgrade to High Sierra or later once I replaced it with the OWC drive. I'm not interested in spending more money and time on Envoy Pro or whatever. This is NOT compatible with Mac Mini's that only have an NVME drive installed!

einfach einsetzen, in meinem Falle in ein 13" MacBook Air 2015 und das Betriebssystem installieren > fertig :-) Hab Linux Mint Debian Edition LMDE 7 installiert.

Se utilizó en un Mac Air de 2017 que requería de este conector. Hay que tener en cuenta que debe realizarse una instalación de Mac Os desde 0 vía USB, si no no se reconocerá la unidad y posteriormente restaurar una TimeMachine si decides mantener los datos del antiguo HDD. Permite buenas velocidades y la carga de todo es muy rápido.
