Almost right after buying I had a bit of a buyer's remorse because I didn't know that dead flat means matte and didn't think to double check. But boy, after this product I'm swearing by matte varnishes. I'm devastated they don't sell it anymore

Got this for black walnut drawer faces I am making for a bathroom vanity.I had already done several coats of minwax wipe-on poly to get a good solid protective base on the wood, and then lightly buffed it with sandpaper to knock down the shine. I then foam brushed a crazy thin layer of this over all the surfaces and let it dry.With the base coat of minwax already sealing up the pores of the wood it took maybe a couple of floz. of polyvine to cover all 9 of the large drawers that I was finishing. (They are about 24"x8" each)As it was drying I gently wiped with the foam brush any areas that appeared to have 'more' than they should to even them up, but I probably didn't need to.THIS STUFF IS AMAZING!The black walnut has zero and I mean ZERO shine!It looks like raw wood!I haven't used modern masters or any other 'dead flat' finishes so I can't compare, but am interested in what others who have have to say about it in comparison.I'm TOTALLY satisfied with this product!

This is perfect, Matt varnish. I used two coats on the small table and only one coat of the crates which I had ordered burnt effect so needed to seal them.
