Hello, The item comes in a box, and for added protection we ship in an extra mailing box.

Q: is the handle made of plastics? I bought one with a plastic handle and it got broken on the first day of use.

Yes. The shaft is aluminum, but the handle and grippers are plastic. We have 3 of these grabbers in different lengths. We have had them for about 2 years and have no broken parts. We use them to pick up yard debris when mowing, mostly. They seem to be well made.

Q: Do any come with a locking device so you don’t have to squeezing the handle

My handle does not lock and the reach (shaft) is so long that you cannot comfortably take whatever you picked up with the other hand. It's very long and it is my back-up for when the little one can't handle the job. Like high ceiling or storage reach. Very heavy duty. And I wouldn't recommend if you have arthritis in your hand. Maybe there is a locking handle option, but my device did not have that. Hope this helps your question.
