2016 release from the British band fronted by Martin Fry, a sequel to their 1982 debut album. The album's sound recalls the band's classic early hits with a modern twist. The lyrics deal with many of the same subjects as on the first album, although they are now sung from the point of view of a man three decades older and wiser. Lexicon Of Love II is an all-new album and does not feature re-recordings of songs from the original album. Includes the single 'Viva Love'.

Damn!! What an Album!!
....just amazing...almost 40 years later and it really sounds like the original Lexicon of Love was intended to be a double album, somebody maybe forgot to put Disc 2 in sleeve, someone else found it, and said "Yikes, Look what I found; quick, release this before anyone misses it..". Wow, talk about going back in time....Martin Fry's voice is indistinguishable today from 40 years back...I'm astounded. Vinyl sounds great, 180 gram...songs are so nostalgic ally wonderful...makes me ache for a copy of ABC's MANTRAP..the most underrated long form music video of the 80's....a Hitchcock cold war drama set to ABC Lexicon of love; this music could just slide right in there..hey,guys. Release MANTRAP on bluray N O W...in a world where 80% of the so called singers (artists? Really? Are you kidding me?) Can't sing without auto tune... and all the songs on the radio sound like one big long song with everyone sounding exactly alike blah blah blah...cookie cutter karaoke singers..None of that 3rd grade Girl-you-got that Yummy Yummy crap ...3 years after its release I find this...along comes a fresh burst of something we don't have in most music of today...talent and originality...the lyrics to " Brighter Than the Sun" are the antithesis to today's zeitgeist . ABC, thanks for this and I'm serious about MANTRAP on disc....NOW!!

Yes, I'm a New Romantic fool, aging.
In the 80s, ABC established itself as one of the very finest New Romantic bands to happen upon the New Wave scene. Gorgeously produced, the Lexicon of Love LP remains a timeless classic well into the 21st century. Martin Frye along with Anne Dudley and Trevor Horn demonstrated the musical prowess coming out of the UK and the music world is all the better for it. Skip to present day, and now we have The Lexicon of Love II... Frye still out front and, again, joined by the hugely talented Anne Dudley as they attempt to perpetuate the New Romantic success lavished upon the initial release. As a fan, I, of course, love this LOLII iteration. But, my subjective passion is not blinded to the fact that what was does not equate to the here and now as times have obviously changed, people have aged and the โ80s New Wave movement in modern music has long since passed. Hereโs my suggestion: I bought my copy for cheap. I treasure it because it provides a beautiful conduit to the way back of my memories and, frankly, itโs a pretty record. If you are unfamiliar with ABC, seek first, The Lexicon Of Love. It is brilliant. For those of us familiarโฆ Well, I suspect like me, you probably bought a copy and your heart strings soar at every orchestrated point of ABC Pop loveliness. Or, not. Tah!

The Lexicon of Love so many years on....
Product was exactly as ordered. On time and new. The content is solid but not as inventive as the original Lexicon of Love album. Sort of like a reunion tour of your favorite band where they play the new stuff that just doesn't quite have any of the spark of the old stuff.

Big game hunting
Great effort. Let's poach the elephant in the room, the original Lexicon of Love is in a league of it's own and very little that comes out, from Mr. Fry or anyone else is going to match that note for note in quality. Whether his label imposed this name as the rumor is going or if he chose it the album receives extra scrutiny for namechecking that fantastic premiere. So, is it any good?Yes. One track on here is a clunker that I don't think is going to grow on me and one track I think would work better as an instrumental than as a song with lyrics. The rest of this is dead good and has been on constant rotation all day for this long-term ABC fan. If the title is putting you off, worry not, this one delivers.

Some Great Reward
There's no great reward without great risk and in this case it paid off. Luckily part II pays its respects to its predecessor without getting overly nostalgic or lingering too long in the past. Fresh, thoughtful, fun, lush, and romantic, Lexicon of Love II serves as a reminder of Martin Fry's incredible talents. None of the tracks fall flat though some moments are more memorable than others. Viva Love is a minor miracle but I can't stop listening to Flames of Desire...over, and over, and over again--genius. Thanks Martin for making my week-end. I cross my fingers for remixes.

The return of the New Romantics.
All is right in the world again. ABC still sounds like ABC. The lush strings, the vocals of Martin Fry, the lyrics. This is an excellent companion piece to the original "The Lexicon of Love" released 34 years earlier. Although all of the tracks don't quite "fit", there's really nothing wrong with any of them. Listening to this, takes me back to my youth and listening to all of the artists in the New Romantic movement of the late 1970's, early 1980's. In my opinion, this should have been the next album released after "The Lexicon of Love." It may have taken 34 years to get it, but it was definitely worth the wait.

Great album. The vibe is more subdued than the debut album but Fry can still stir things up. "Viva Love" and "Kiss Me Goodbye" are outtakes from the Abracadabra album, but they're better in this setting. Great tracks that finally found a proper home. All the wordplay and heartfelt emotion of the debut album is here, and all the artwork and graphics including the random assortment of lyrics blended together. Now let's hope for The Lexicon of Love III or at least another followup. I've never been disappointed by anything Martin Fry has released, except for maybe "Up."

A Feel Good Album
I bought this when it was released back in May and listened to it quite a bit and liked it. Each time I listened to it I liked it a little bit more. and then I grew to love it. 7 months on and I'm still playing this album a lot and still love it. It's an album that makes me feel happy listening to it. It's also an album to put on when you're not quite sure what you want to listen to. I've always liked ABC and am so pleased they have created this great follow up to Lexicon of Love. It's definitely one of my favourite albums of 2016.

Wonderful return to form.
Wonderful return to form. Could only be ABC at their finest. No one does it like them, or him. Always clever and witty lyrics and great music, a massively uplifting experience hearing this. I love the original Lexican, it has stood up as one of the outstanding pop releases of the whole of the 1980s, and it was released right at the start of the decade. This one sits along side it very nicely. If you liked Lexican the first time round then you should love this, I know that I do.

AMAZING!!
There's no need to write about the lovely songs included here, the spectacular production, the magnificent arrangements or the powerful voice of mr. Martin Fry-still in great form after all these years. Other reviewers here have covered brilliantly all these subjects. But i owe a big THANK YOU to mr. Fry for this amazing release, a triumphant sequel to the much adored Lexicon Of Love. Thank you Martin for these ten magnificent songs, one better than the other, that accomapany my days and nights ever since i bought Lexicon Of Love 2. Thank you for your contribution to modern and elegant pop and i really hope that you will continue to release great music-like you always did! I strongly recommend Lexicon Of Love 2 to every fan of 80's and pop music in general and please accept my words: if you love delicious, gorgeous and elegant pop music, then Lexicon Of Love 2 is the answer! There's no need to buy anything else if you don't get this one! The great comeback of 2016 and 2017 so far!!
