WORKS WELL WITH ALEXA!
I have 4 of these plugs and they work FLAWLESSLY with Alexa......Direct commands and Routines are no problem. A Little pricey but not many options for 5G.

Some stopped working randomly and won't reconnect
I was so excited to find some plugs that worked with 5g since we upgraded our WiFi (it's that ONLY 5g one, no option to switch to 2.4), but have recently been disappointed. These were not easy to set up, you have to download an app, disconnect the internet, turn off cellular, guess it's not that hard, but irritating and clunky. I got them all set up for holiday lights and they worked awesome for about a month with the timers set through the app.Randomly a few days ago I noticed some of the lights were not turning off per their timer so I checked, and those plugs were all of a sudden offline, but a few were still working. There was no change in internet, no password change, no power outage....literally nothing changed regarding these plugs or internet or phone.I tried the steps to reconnect and after 7 attempts I gave up and tried another plug that was offline, thinking maybe that one plug had some fault- same thing happened to the second one I tried multiple times in different locations, closer to the router, and in different sockets. The reconnection steps would randomly work up until the last one, giving you a false sense of hope, but it timed out every time and could not complete the final step and I get a message it could not connect. It was aggravating to put it mildly.I contacted customer support, which is just an email or FB, so no doubt that will be super helpful. This is irritating since there are such limited options when it comes to 5g plugs. I want to add I have tons of smart devices and had the 2.4 smart plugs prior which were awesome and worked great, so I definitely have some experience dealing with smart devices as well as troubleshooting and am hopeful I am not overlooking something really dumb and easy to fix.Update: I just left one plugged in for like 30 minutes to think about what it's done and it started flashing it's "I'm ready to connect light pattern," so I tried to reconnect it and it did (!!) but now I can't give it a name (which is required or I would have skipped it) and it says it's offline again. I'm not sure why I keep doing this to myself.

It really supports 5GHz WiFi!
It surprised me - really supports 5GHz WiFi and I won't need to enable a separate 2.4GHz SSID anymore.Actually the first time it does not connect but after reading the manufacturer's notice (only support 802.11n) I changed the 5GHz WiFi to be mixed-mode (n and ac). Then everything is fine.Worthy a try!

Did not work with Alexa
I upgraded my internet to 5G (to attract aliens or whatever it is supposed to do ;) and my older smart-ish plugs would not work anymore. This was not easy to hook up. It did not show my network so I had to select hidden network and key my info in. It took some time for it to recognize it and connect. Once I had that done I thought the Alexa part would be a breeze. Nope. I cannot get it to connect to Alexa. I downloaded the Broadlink app and tried to use the scenes there instead. They work occasionally. If you just want something to connect to the internet so you can go to an app and turn your lights off/on then this plug is for you!

works With 5 GHz if you pay attention, still isn't the best
Won't automatically reconnect itself after I disconnectionOther than thatIf you look on their app, you can see that there are two identical plugs one that supports 5G and one that doesn't if you select the wrong one like I assume a lot of the people in the reviews have it's not going to work.I was living in a temporary apartment for 6 months and bought this because the apartment only provided 5 gigahertz internet.Really the main annoying issue is it seems like if this thing loses power or if the network is shut off temporarily and turn back on it's not smart enough to reconnect you have to go back into pairing mode and go throughout the whole rigmarole again. That I only have one of these things because that would be a giant pain in the butt I'm actually probably going to be putting this in a drawer somewhere and only using it temporarily for anything. The other issue is instead of using the Smart Life app like a lot of generic Smart Home appliances do, it's only uses its own proprietary app which is kind of clunky and weird and buggy.I would personally avoid unless you have no other option and need a smart outlet to go on 5 gigahertzThen again you can pick up a little cheap repeater that will repeat your 5 GHz down too a lower frequency and that's probably cheaper and would do the job better than this thing

Royal pain
Frustrating set-up. You need to download 2 apps just to connect to the smart plug. Each requires to set up an account. Then, you can add it to your network and, hopefully, Alexa or Google Home can find and connect to it. Also, it occasionally and randomly disconnects from the network, requiring troubleshooting and eventually a restart. I ordered it with Amazon Frustration Free set-up. So, they're supposed to be preprogrammed. Mine were not. Very disappointing product. I would avoid this product, unless you are entertained by products that do little more than blink their little blue lights and need to be reprogrammed every time they experience a power loss.

Finally! One that works with 5 ghz networks
I don't know why there are products out there in 2022 that only withs with 2.4 ghz networks. Or they are so complicated to install where by you have to shut off the 5 ghz feature in your network while installing then turn it back on later. But this plug works on BOTH types of networks and was a breeze to install. I have them throughout my house and my quality of life has improved 10 folds because I can now control various gadgets. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Defective
I bought these in March, and they stopped working about 8 months later. I finally got in contact with the company, and they said that this particular model of plug is defective with no fix possible. They are offering me a replacement lesser model. I bought these for their 5ghz capability, and it seems likely that's where the issue is. They will be providing me with a 2.4ghz replacement, which is essentially fine. So just a heads up, these will work for a little while then break do avoid the hassle and purchase something else

Works as described
I bought this for the only reason that it works with 5G. It was disappointing to read once the box was opened that it might NOT work with 5G. Strange disclaimer. However it does work well with my 5G network and was east to connect.

unreliable! still doesn't work on ANY home automation system! (Nov 2023)
****Final Update (I hope)***They never came through. they offered to replace it, which agreed to. i was super excited. came back here to give a good review. but then they ghosted me.i emailed and emailed and NOTHING. what absolute jerks. why on earth would they offer to replace it and then not come throughDO NOT BUY THIS OR ANYTHING FROM THIS BROADLINK. UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.GARBAGE PRODUCTS, GARBAGE COMPATIBILITY, GARBAGE SUPPORT.--------------------------------emailed support and they were Excellent so i am bumping this back up to a 4 start. given it worked well for nearly a year before i started having issues. Then after emailing customer support they offered to swap me to an SP4M-US****update*** still won't work on any home automation system.more importantly is unreliable and needs to be manually unplugged and plugged in. i tried switching it from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz wireless and that seemed to help but found it 'offline' today again.super disappointed and now its out of warranty so i am afraid its garbage.----------------------so i wanted to be future proof and get one that had 5Ghz wifi capable, which this does.however, i would have really preferred to setup a docker to control it, rather than use their software and have it hooked up to the internet.now i am by far no expert on those listed home automation apps in the subject (Home assistant, domoticz, or openHab),

Expensive but Doesn’t require 2.4 ghz alone to work
Very expensive but it does work. The new so call, improved dual band wifi could not easily be isolated to work with me current 2.4 devices. Atleast I can now run a couple smart switches but will only buy what I necessary because of the very high relative cost. They seem to be working fine. The app could be much smoother but it does work.

Can be linked to 5ghz
At first I was going to return this because it was not an easy pair to my Amazon home system but after a couple steps I was very pleased.I initially bought this particular plug because my home router is a 5ghz unit and this was one of the few I could find with this availability.I downloaded the BroadLink app and paired it there. After that I added the BroadLink skill in the Amazon Alexa app. After that was completed I am able to use this plug the same in the Amazon app as anything else that is paired. It took an extra step but I am pleased.

Works no problem with my dual band mesh system😁
Bought other brands that were only for 2.4 GHZ networks (forgot my neighbour that recommended them only has 2.4) and could not even get them setup. I have a dual band mesh system (2.4/5 GHZ) and the setup was no problem! Easy timer programming and very capable app! Getting 2 more delivered tomorrow!🤷🏻♂️
