I make sourdough as a hobby, and this makes the cuts so perfectly.The only issue I have is that is doesn't stick on my butcher block counters. I just bring it to the edge and set 2 of the feet off the edge of the counter. It does stick on my glass cooktop though!10/10 recommendIt is heavy, but I love the quality and that I can adjust the sizes of the slices!

This was expensive enough that I hesitated to buy it, but we eat a lot of sourdough and sometimes slicing through a loaf in even slices is difficult. This absolutely does the trick and is quite easy to use. Although it looks dangerous, there is no real danger of cutting yourself if you are paying attention at all; the blade has a protective shield on one side. The knob easily adjusts to make thinner or thicker slices, and you can cut extremely thin slices of bread. There are two negatives: the suction cups on the bottom don’t actually hold the slicer to the counter, and the slice of bread gets in the way of the handle when you are cranking it. That’s slightly inconvenient, but I didn’t want to spend another $100 for the version that has a slice guard to keep the bread from falling onto the handle. I also didn’t like the looks of the folding board as much as the one that this is mounted on. I am satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to others who are looking for a home slicer for breads with sturdy crusts.

You will never want to use a bread knife again. This thing cuts a fresh sourdough loaf like butter. To crack the handle and effortlessly slide your bread through at a perfect, uniform slice size is kitchen bliss. It helps to use the suction cups on the bottom to keep it steady. The blade is razor sharp and will cut you if you touch it. I elected to go with this one over cons knockoffs because of good German steel that I can trust. Highly recommend.

Wish I'd sprung for one of these long ago! I bake a lot of sourdough bread, and what a game changer this is when it comes to slicing it. The blade easily cuts through that crunchy crust and soft interior like it's nothing! Beautiful, uniform slices! Even though the measurements are clearly stated in the product description, just from just looking at the pics I thought it would be larger than it is - and was greatly relieved when it arrived, as it is a size that is easily stowed away. Some reviewers say the suction cups slip around on the counter, but that may depend on your countertop material as I couldn't get this to slide at all on quartz. It also is not as heavy as it looks, again a relief! All in all, a very well thought out, well made product that is a pleasure to use. Highly recommend it for serious home bread bakers.
