This Echo trimmer head fits the DEWALT DCST972X1 String Trimmer. No modifications are required. Just remove the old head that came on the trimming and spin this new Echo head on. Works great.

OEM Speed-Feed 450 Trimmer Head
OEM Speed-Feed 450 Trimmer Head for Echo SRM-266T. Original is still working after 4 years of trimming 6 properties, just decided to buy a new head instead of replacing worn cover and eyelets, and I will keep the old head for a backup. Super fast and easy to replace line, especially when you keep a couple lengths of line cut ahead of time, no time wasted measuring line when you could be trimming.

Improvement over the smaller reel.
Likes:- takes larger string- easier to reload than the standard reel both because the holes are larger and because it seems easier to turn.- less prone to losing string inside reel. Not sure why but seems like string doesn’t get as bound up inside- large string capacity means fewer refills- FAVORITE thing is that I am having far fewer incidents of long grass binding up the head. Yay! I use this a lot on long grass.Cautions:- I have the feeling that this head takes a bit more power so would recommend checking your trimmer’s compatibility so you don’t over work your motor.

Echo Speed Feed 500
This is installed on a Honda HHT35S trimmer. I replaced the original head on the HHT35S because I was having trouble with it. I did a lot of review research on the Tube and found out that Echo had several models available, with this one being the latest and somewhat unproven. Later, after installing it I saw some reviews that indicated the 500 version sometimes would have an issue with the internal arbor transferring heat from the gear head and causing line fusion. Apparently the older arbors were metal and this one is plastic(so I have heard). So far I have not had that problem, and perhaps it's related to commercial application and not domestic. It installed very easily and worked on my unit without and adapter. If I have that problem in the future, I will purchase the SpeedFeed 450. So far so good! I am happy with it.UPDATE: There is a heat transfer problem that melts the trim line, and therefore causes line non feeding problem. It seems to occur when the weather is warmer(which is normally when it's used the most). Well, I had high hopes for this trimmer head, but it has become a disappointment! Hopefully the manufacturer will correct the problem.

Great upgrade assembly over the stock unit.
I run a Honda 4stroke trimmer with manly torque. I replaced the stock head with the 450. I'm quite happy since it was very easy to install on my particular make and model.I also purchased a spare head cover just to have on hand as it's a part that wears with use and time.So after some use, I'm very pleased with this product and might consider buying an additional one as a spare for the shelf. I'm into having spare parts on hand in this economy and supply chain climate, 'cause you never know.It holds plenty of string and pays it out with a light tap of the head. No vibration either.
