Ketting 2.0
Two teenaged boys are found butchered. Hearts cut from their chests. Kett is home recovering from a bullet wound--part of which is still lodged close to his heart. That leaves Porter and Savage to find the monster who would do something so vicious and horrible. Turns out these two young men aren't the first and won't be the last unless somebody can put 2+2 together and come up with 4. The clues are few and far between, but Porter and Savage are determined and dogged. This is an intriguing story. You may think you have it figured out, but you don't. Kett has three young daughters. They manage to provide some comic relief. Otherwise, this is a dark tale. One can only hope that Kett manages to recover completely and rejoin the team in the future. Great series.

An exciting and compulsive read
A sort of rest from the frenetic Kett household. Two of Norfolk’s best chase down a gruesome serial killer with energy, aplomb and humor. DCI Kett’s team are spotlighted here to everyone’s advantage! This is well worth reading, as are all the previous books. Can’t wait for the new one. Norfolk has become a very interesting place indeed.

Loved it!
Broke ranks and didn’t title this “intense.” It was intense, but I loved that the book centered around Savage and Porter. The mark of a good author? He can make you love the supporting characters as much as the protagonist. Very well done!

Great Series
Not for the faint of heart! Lots of action, lots of gore. If that's your thing, you'll love this series as I do. Kett and his family are a refreshing change from the dour, lonely detective of other series.

Another great Kett book
Another great story. Even though Robbie is out of commission and not the center he is still very much part of the team. The stories are pretty gruesome and violent but include a bit of humor and warmth. Good reads.

Well Done
I’m very impressed with this author, Alex Smith. Not just focusing on one star character, he develops several others which add depth to the mysteries. His knowledge & love for this part of the world is an asset as well. Every book in the series has been a good read!

DCI Kett series
I really like this series, but I don't like that I have to wait till August for the 7th and last book in the series. Keep up the good work!

The best so far
Sit back as DCI Kett lets the rest of the team take the spotlight, watching them all grow into Kett 2.0, even little Colin.

Sigh of relief - a decent read!
it's been a bad week for crime novels from Amazon... nearly every one of them ended up deleted, too disappointed to even leave a 1 star review, which I felt would have been a waste of time. And then there was the new DCI Kett book - wow, the characters seem to be more alive than usual, I think because he has spent five books detailing their often crazy conversations and that in turn keeps the reader on edge when one of them is seriously injured, are we going to lose someone we have come to really like?Great book, Gordon, great read. Offset all the bad ones and reminded me there is good writing out there. Just get busy and ensure the next book is out in August, it isn't that far away...

Stone cold dead
With Kett sidelined due to being shot in the last book, Porter, Savage and Colin x 2 (Boss and dog) are the main focus of this book. However, Robbie was still part of it, even though no longer in the force. Yet another page turner from Alex. Each time I think will the next book stand up against the previous ones and they do. This one had you guessing right to the end. Just when you thought you might have worked it out the plot took another twist. The final chapter I am sure sets up the next book, which will see Robbie back in the spotlight trying to find his true nemesis.Another 5 out of 5 from me. Again, as I often remark in my reviews of this series of books - if you haven’t read any start at the first and read them in order. They are a great read.

Another great book from Alex Smith
Another great book from Alex Smith. Gripping from the start and doesn't let go till the very end, even then I carried the story in my head for a while. Savage and Porter did a cracking job in the absence of Robbie. Clare is a very funny character. The book is full of funny moments and great wit, but also had me crying in parts. Sign of a great author when all of your emotions are felt when reading a novel. Alex Smith has a wonderful way with words. His descriptive prose is just beautiful. He describes ordinary things in such a lovely way that I would never have thought of and I'll carry that with me when looking up at the sky or walking through the woods. Loved the subtle nod to DCI Harry Grimm - another of my favourites. Already pre-ordered the next book, so can't wait till August! Thank you for giving us such great books.

Fantasist or killer?
DCI Kett, DI Porter and DC Savage, a formidable team. This time, Kett is partly out of it, recovering from injuries. The story is very gruesome. Murder, torture and folklore seemingly all over the country. Someone is killing children, sacrificing them for someone else. It is a long, involved story and case for the detectives. Kett is working in the background leaving Porter and Savage plus their boss Clare to see to the rough end. It is quite fast moving and disturbing but eventually, with injuries to police, they catch the perpetrators, the "leader" a totally unexpected person who has been obsessed with fantasy and murder. Despite the cruelty I did like the story. If you like Kett read this one !!

Write quicker
Just finished book six in the DCI Kett series and preordered the next one so would be very grateful Alex if you could write a bit quicker as I thoroughly enjoyed them all very much, I had them on my kindle and my hubby wanted to read them tried to put them on his kindle but had a bit off trouble and I just couldn’t do it but wouldn’t share my kindle with him(slow reader) so ended up buying him the paperbacks of them as I just couldn’t stop reading the books 1 to 6 and when they finished I started on the softly softly novel (which I’m hooked on now) and find I have to wait for book two aaargh so just ordered another of your books hoping it’s a stand alone novel as I’m not sure I could stand the wait for the next one if it’s not. But congratulations on your books Alex have myself and hubby hooked.
