Good heavy duty pegs
Doesn’t work great in sand. But it’s much better than the one provided by most tents.

So why the seemingly negative headline? To let everyone know that these things are true. I know that there are some negative reviews talking about these points. Also these may not be the best stakes for backpackers trying to save weight. However, I have been using these stakes for many years and have had very good luck with them. Using a little patience and common sense these stakes are a great buy. One of the things that I use them for is securing my greenhouse cover every spring and for staking down canopies when attending events. I personally have had very little problem with bent stakes. The ground that my greenhouse is on is loaded with rocks. This is actually great for making the stakes "lock" into place, but it's also not an easy task to drive them in without hitting larger rocks that won't give way. I use a 3# hand held sledge to drive the stakes and have yet to bend a stake so much as to make it unusable. The stakes are made of mild steel and they will definitely bend if you keep hammering when they've hit an immovable object. And they will bend if they become lodged and you can't pull them out in a straight line. I use a piece of 2'x6" and a crow bar for pulling the stubborn ones. What I like about these stakes is 1. the hook at the top which makes it easy to secure a grommet without using any type of cordage, 2. the fact that they are steel and 3.that the 12" length just anchors better than the shorter stakes I've used in the past. The L shape also works better on average than round stakes for getting a good bite and not working loose in high winds.

As expected, no surprises.

Needed these to hold down a lighted reindeer for Christmas. They did the job perfectly.

Used these for "extra" securement of a gazebo on all 4 corners. So far so good, no bending pulling out of the ground, and they have withstood some crazy storms so far. I would definetly recommend these, especially for the price.
