Awesome read
As a career Coast Guardsman this book tugged at my heart of the many rescues at sea I was involved in. The term you have to go out but you don’t have to come back was always in the back of the minds of myself and my crews as we went about our business of rescuing and surviving the sea. Bernie Webber was and will forever be the unsung hero of the United States Coast Guard. The small service with the biggest job!

Riveting read of a historical rescue
Watched this movie with my adult daughter--fascinating! We agreed her adult brother would love this historical thriller to read. Doubt many people today have ever heard of this rescue. Well worth the read-- exciting, informative, truly courageous, historical, inspiring. Even adolescents would find this book a riveting read!

What a Great Read!!!
Good book, great read. I've read The Finest Hours, but the telling by the lifeboat operator himself is not to be missed. The story of the Chatham Community and other rescues and stories of life there at that time ate wonderful. I truely enjoyed this one. 5 stars!

Excellent story by a true hero
A factual account of the events in Bernie Webber 's life. The last two paragraphs are a fitting tribute and perfect ending.

Very easy read. Despite the fact that it includes the author's own account of the memorable rescue, the books as whole is not a repeat of the "The Finest Hours." I liked it not only because of the first-hand narrative but because I'm familiar with the area and can visualize locations mentioned. Some interesting read-between-the-lines reflections on the nature of life in the Coast Guard and subsequent changes therein.

Against All Odds!
The book "Into A Raging Sea" by Bernie Weber covers with more depth the rescue of the crew of the tanker Pendleton. Mr. Weber also talks about his early home life and joining the US Maritime Service at age 16. On 26 February 1946 Mr. Weber enlisted in the US Coast Guard, and the rest is history. Warrant Officer Weber retired from the Coast Guard on 29 August 1963 with a 17 year career in the service.

Great rerelease of Bernie Webber's original book "The Lifeboat Men"
Great rerelease of Bernie Webber's original book "The Lifeboat Men". It will be most significant to those who know and respect the ocean and even more so to anyone from Cape Cod or who ever served in the U.S. Coast Guard.Great heroic story which was the basis for the recenly released movie "The Finest Hours"
