This phone is just FINE!
I had a similar AT&T branded rugged flip a few years back that wasn't the greatest, so it was with some trepidation that I ordered this one. Unlike the previous one, the AT&T branding doesn't create problems:1) It came with several AT&T numbers in the address book. They are easily deleted permanently.2) It has some kind of non-intuitive predictive text entry - that too can be turned off permanently.3) The PTT button by default is off, so you don't have the phone asking stupid questions when you press it accidentally. In fact, the PTT button can be assigned to one of several non-PTT functions, but I've left it off, so I can press it to wake the phone's external screen to check the time.Sound quality is good, the ringer is nice and LOUD so I can hear it. The supplied ringtones are a bit too "Zen" for me, but you can upload your own.About the only thing I'll knock it for is setups can be a bit non-intuitive and hard to find, and I have yet to find a way to customize the directional keypad and a couple of other buttons. I'm used to being able to press the down arrow to access contacts, for instance. Apparently, I can't do that with this phone. Menus are a bit deep, but on the plus side, you can put shortcuts on the main screen to get to stuff you use frequently.Like all phones of my acquaintance, there is no dedicated button to turn bluetooth on/off, you have to navigate menus to do so. I like to leave bluetooth off except when I'm using it to conserve battery power.Works fine with Consumer Cellular, I was able to simply transfer my SIM from my old phone and was up and running! Hopefully, I'll be able to use this phone for many years to come - I don't subscribe to the idiocy of replacing a phone every 2 years.

limited functions, VERY limited call block list available, awkward & cumbersomeOS implementation
Very disappointed with this Samsung phone. The Rugby 4 380A is NOT what one wants for a cell phone.and certainly not what one wants to have to use in a rugged work environment let alone have to use in an emergency. As an example it can ONLY block 10 incoming calls = Block List ONLY 10 phone numbers. That can fill up in less than 2 days. It does not block texts with attached active HTML AND seems to connect to the attached Active HTML. So bad callers can make it sound a LOUD Whistle any time. Great for abso;utely nothing but annoyingIt can not even be set to remember to use speaker on for incoming calls; output volume way too low and awkward to change. Its the most annoying & disappointing cell phone I've ever had

Excellent Flip Phone
This phone works great. Very good clarity and reception. The rubbery coating gives it a good grip that doesn't feel like it will slip through your hands, and (though I haven't tested it) seems like it could take a moderate fall without damage. It has a camera that is easy to use, and offers internet connection. I pretty much only use it for phone calls and light texting. You can keep some text templates for common messages to save from having to peck them out each time. Also, the battery will last almost a week between charges.I had a Rugby 2 years ago which I found to be very good; then I got a Rugby 3 which I thought was cheaply made, and basically junky. I sent it back because I was so disappointed. After a couple IPhones, and their lousy phone clarity, I decided to try the Rugby again. The Rugby 4 is sturdy and well made like the Rug2 was, and I am happy with it.

Decent Flip.
The battery life is very good. Went back to a dumb phone because I was tired of carrying my smart phone in my hand every where I went. I am next to a computer 90% of the day anyway. My only gripe is you have to hold the phone mouth piece very carefully or you won't be heard. Using it hanging off your shoulder works very well when your hands need to be occupied typing or otherwise due to the decent length and weight of this thing. It was unlocked, put my cricket sim in and away it went. It didn't recognize the cricket sim so I had to manually enter the numbers.I haven't found out how to do predictive text yet, can't figure it out. Texting is painful compared to a smart phone. You have to be careful using the screw on the back, it's easy to not set it back in place and lose the back if you're not careful.Haven't used the web function much because I turned it off the same day I bought it but it was functional. One negative was I wanted gps in a non smart phone but I didn't realize you can't use that function without using the at&t service. It's a function on their network only.

Samsung phones just seem to just break too easily..
This phone is definitely rugged and I was initially impressed with how tough it felt and worked. However, after only a much too short of time using this phone, the keypad just stopped working. I could not or would not advise buying this particular Samsung rugged phone (Rugby 4). Samsung phones just seem to just break too easily...and just have too much bloatware.
