Great spoon, not exactly dishwasher safe
It's near impossible to find a spoon with this long of a handle in stores. This is a great price, and a great size. The handle is substantial, which gives it a good feel in the hand. I like the little corner, which helps get into the edges of pots and pans (handy especially for risotto, why I went in quest of my long handled spoon in the first place!). It has a nice weight and look. I did put it in the dishwasher, and once out, I noticed a marked dullness on one side. It appeared dry, and it made me hesitant to use the dishwasher again for fear it would crack. I would definitely recommend buying it--just hand washing. I took off one star only because I don't believe it truly is dishwasher safe, as advertised.

Poor quality
Very disappointed. Top of spoon is very rough and afraid could actually get splinters in food. Have had Joyce Chen spoons in past years that were fabulous but I feel I could have gotten better ones from the dollar store this time.

Wide, Flat, Heavy Handle--Uncomfortable, Unbalanced, Takes Up Too Much Room
Spoon and bamboo quality is OK. Spoon is shallow...good for stirring, mixing, tasting. Not for scooping. This spoon is totally standard except for one thing. The handle is flat and strangely very wide...almost as wide as the head of the spoon. Not a good feel especially if you have small-medium hands like me. The flat and wide handle could be a good/bad thing depending on your personal preferences. It would be more comfortable for me to use if the handle wasn't so wide. I don't like that the wide handle takes up a lot more precious space in my drawer and utensil crock. I also don't like the distribution of weight due to the big wide handle. The spoon tips if you put it in a small shallow pot or bowl.I needed several spoons. Good thing I only bought one to see if I liked it first. I'm not buying any more of these as I just want a normal spoons with normal handles. I'm tempted to ask my husband to sand/whittle down the handle for me...but it's probably not worth the work as bamboo spoons are around $5 and I can just get another one.

Beautiful spoon for stirring or serving
I like using wood utensils. They are easy on my cookware, and I like the feel. I was looking for a spoon that had a nice shape to it as well. A lot of wood utensils are just a straight stick for the handle; this has nice design. This spoon is made from a fine-grained bamboo that has been well polished to be smooth. I've used it to stir my oatmeal in the mornings, and to serve sauces at the table, and for dishing out soft items like hummus at the table. I've it used to stir scrambled eggs as well. It's smaller than I expected, but it did say it is a "demi-spoon", and is only 6" long. It's about the size of a teaspoon. You're not going to be stirring a pot of stew with this spoon!Very good for the right purpose, and a beautiful design.

Updated...Cheap! As in quality, However
UPDATED 5/14- Still not much of a "spoon", can't use it to spoon out liquids, however these things have held up incredibly. I use them everyday and put them in the dishwasher and holy s*&t they still work more than 2 years later. I had to throw away my "good" Calphalon wooden spoons away a long time ago that I bought at the same time.Original impression- Very thin and flimsy, with very poor shape. Hardly any bowl. Could have gotten a whole set for the same price.Guess I'll keep looking.

Quality brand
I have always purchased Joyce Chen Bamboo utensils. They are very excellent quality and stay looking new. The only problem I have with this shipment is a paper barcode which was adhered to each spoon. the paper came off easily but the adhesive left behind I have not been able to remove thus far.

Not as good quality as the old Joyce Chen spoons
I replaced my well-used 12+ year-old Joyce Chen spoons and was disappointed. One new spoon has a small crack at the top of the spoon, and the other has a chip at the top after 8 months of use. The handle is not as comfortable as my old spoons, but I have gotten used to it.

Not good quality; do not recommend
Not happy with this spoon. Rough finish that feels as though will cause damage to hand/fingers. Sticker on the handle where you hold it is terribly sticky and has left heavy sticky glue on spoon and it sticks to everything. Seems in the spoon that I fear will break if mixing something thick or heavy. Time will tell.

Four Stars
Good as cooking aid, but not that handy as a serving tool. Spoon head is pretty small.

Solid!
I use these to grind liver through very fine mesh collanders. They are strong and have a good shape/feel to them. Not exactly sure how they would be for just cooking though.

Love it!
I bought this to use in my brand new stockpot so I wouldn't scratch it. It fits nicely in my hand and is nice and light but sturdy.

Good luck getting the sticker off
It's a fine spoon, but The Residue will outlive us all.
