The Borg Are Not To Be Messed With
The Borg are a threat again. One of the fan complaints about the Star Trek Voyager series is that it nerfed the Borg to a non-threat. Except for a fight against a Voyager mini armed with the future transphasic torpedoes (10 attack dice), this tactical cube brings back that sense of menace the Borg lacked after The Next Generation. With 8 shields and 9 hull, this beast of a ship can take just about any beating, plus it has Borg regeneration to help repair damage. It's standard attack roll is composed of 6 attack dice, and its secondary weapon, the Cutting Beam, boasts an impressive 10 attack dice (one lucky roll could one shot most of the ships in the game). Is this ship overpowered? If it were any other faction, yes. But the Borg aren't any other faction, they're meant to be an out of context threat to the Federation and others.

Or combine it with X-Wing and be like "That's no moon
Just what every nerd needs on their desk : a flying cemetery full of space zombies. Or combine it with X-Wing and be like "That's no moon. Seriously, it's huge and all, but moons aren't cubes. Oh, it's firing on us. Hey, is Space Rick Grimes around?"

The Cube is here
The Borg Tactical Cube Expansion Pack is an expansion for the Star Trek Attack Wing Miniature Game, which happens to include ... a big plastic Cube. But what else could you expect from the Borgs but one of their uninspiring warships. I bought it because is the Borgs, and nothing else. However, these Borg warship is the first oversized ship sold with a base similar to those of the Millennium Falcon or Slave 1 for the X Wing miniature game. Because of its size, the ship cost ~$10 more, but also includes the Borg Queen and a few more torpedoes than the previously released Borg Sphere. This miniature is about 2.5" long all sides. For an uninteresting cube, the sculptors did a great job recreating all the small details such as tubing and panels. The paint job is plain gray on darker gray, without any neon green accents. but those would have been hard to apply if any.In addition to the Tactical Cube, this expansion includes a stand and a big base for the miniature, one double sided ship token for the base, and one maneuver dial. Of course there are plenty of other tokens as those included for the Star Trek Attack Wing Miniature Game. The included cards are as boring as the Borg themselves, but it also include theirs special abilities:1 Maneuver Card2 Ships: Tactical Cube 138 (46 pts) and a standard Tactical Cube (44 pts).- Special ability: Borg Ablative Hull Armor -3 cost.3 Captains: Borg Queen (6), Tactical Drone (4) and a Drone(0)- Borg Queen special ability: 8 drone tokens, discard one per turn to perform a free action.1 Officers: Four of Twelve1 Talent upgrade: Assimilated Access Codes1 utility upgrade: Self Destruct Sequence3 torpedo upgrades: Borg Missile (4), Full Assault (6) and Cutting Beam (10)3 borg upgrades: Borg Alcove (4), Borg Tractor Beam (7) and Borg Ablative Hull Armor (10)2 cards for one mission: Deliver the Nano Virus2 reference cards: Borg Tractor Beam Token and Additional Rules- Additional rules: Regenerate, Spin Maneuver, Overlapping, Borg Upgrades and Drone TokensThe Borg are impressive opponents overall. They move is like no other ship with no turns, hard turns or above turns. Instead, they just move forward (1-4, green on 1-2), left or right (1-4, red on 4) or back(1-3, red on 2-3). Before moving left or right, the Borg spins 90 degree in that direction (Spin Maneuver).Overall, this is the Borg. It is a good expansion for ST: Voyager fans, but at an extra cost.
