Description
- Latin Name: Chaenomeles superba Knap Hill Scarlet
- Common Name: Japanese Quince
- Characteristics: Chaenomeles Knap Hill Scarlet is a deciduous, spreading shrub with a striking cluster of orange-red flowering. The colours are eye-catching and will grab the attention of visitors or passers-by with ease, with the glossy green foliage, thorny branch structure and green-yellow fruiting in Summer adding to its appeal. Due to the plants deciduous nature, it will lose its leaves later in the year, before returning with fresh new foliage in Spring.
- Plant Advice: Chaenomeles should be planted in moist, well-drained soil and kept in full sun at the best of times. Water it regularly as it establishes in the garden and, after that period, watering it once a week will suffice as it will tolerate periods of drought.
