Good but heavy
I really like the Yakima EXO system. It allows me to mix and match to fit what excursion I'm going out for. It's awesome. It all hinges (pun intended?) on the SwingBase. This is robust, to say the least. It is quite heavy. I do wonder if that is necessary because it seems like it adds a lot of torque to the hitch when it is swung out. It does recommend using an included jack to help stabilize it for extended swing out use.Overall, I like this. There are a few things I noticed about it worth mentioning. It is heavy and difficult to set up alone. It's probably best as a two person job.It is not a simple pin and cotter pin attachment to the tow hitch like with other hitches. You have to screw in a large bolt, then use a cotter pin to secure it (you can also lock it). It comes with a crescent wrench to screw in this bolt. I busted my knuckles on my driveway a couple of times because the wrench slipped off of the bolt head. After that, I got a socket wrench in order to save my knuckles. This is designed to go on your car and stay there. I want to remove it and be able to tow a boat. So it makes it a little bit of a pain to remove. Not sure if there is a better option because it does need a solid connection to the tow receiver. The jack is a bit of a joke, though. It's basically a foot, a screw, and a rectangular tube you put a metal rod through and screw up or down. It's a bit difficult to get started, and while it does ultimately get the job done, I have little confidence in it. I'll probably get a small hydraulic jack to use instead.I like that this can be tucked away when not in use. And like I said, the versatility is very good. It's nice that it can swing out so I can access the trunk of my car.Overall, I like this. I'd recommend it. There are a few things that I'd like to see change, but it's a solid system.

Super solid and easy to use
This SwingBase is super solid and easy to install or switch whatever accessory you want. Which is good, considering the price tag. I was very hesitant to spend this much, when basic racks could be purchased for much less. However, I wanted the flexibility to use this with a open rack (GearWarrior) or box (GearLocker) when camping, and a bike rack when biking. I have only used it with the GearWarrior so far but I love it. It doesn't make any noise and I hardly realize it's even there, except when backing up. The only negative is it's heavy, so depending on how much you can lift, you may need assistance when installing. However the heavy weight is what allows you to load up to 250 lbs on it with the GearWarrior (when it's the only thing attached). I'm excited to purchase the bike rack and try that out next!

Great addition to our camper van!
I had been looking for a means to add some storage to my class B camper van (‘23 Ram Promaster Chassis). I saw this system mentioned favorably on a Facebook camper van forum a few months ago. I researched it, read loads of reviews and watched numerous installation and use YouTube videos. When I received my Swingbase, I found it so easy to install. It is is extremely high quality, and well built. The only issue is that even with only the base attached, I cannot open the back door to the van. I must swing the base to the open position in order to open the back doors of the van. I do realize that this system is made to fit a wide variety of vehicles, so I am ok with this limitation, but at least there is a work-around. In any event, getting the base in the open position is a quick and easy action. I also ordered the accessory Gear Locker, which I also found to be high quality and easy to attach. This is a very well-engineered system. I cannot wait to really put it through its paces in the coming months!

Good seller and service, product quality is poor
The seller was prompt and sent the swing base quickly. I would buy more product from this seller. However the product itself is mediocre. It's super heavy which is how it must be so it supports loads but the smaller parts such as knobs, lock pins etc are so flimsy, they will break and bend if you even place the product the floor let alone rough handling. This was my first yakima purchase along with gearbox and perhaps will be the last one.

Game changing system for lugging gear.
Only wish I bought this sooner. Love the system - we got a GearLocker and a GearWarrior stacked and can fit nearly all of our camping gear for 4.

Dented on Arrival
Let me first say that I really like this swingaway cargo rack. I have not regretted getting one because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to open up the back of my van. I like how I can change out the elements as my needs change. It was a pain to assemble and there were a couple of dents that didn't allow an assembly screw to be installed. The box was perfectly intact so I have to assume that the dents happened during or after manufacture.I had to watch the assembly video on YouTube, which I highly recommend.
