Useful overview for beginners
This books is a solid, but brief introduction to corn snakes. It would be great for a young person to read as preparation for getting a corn snake - and the writing level is plenty clear for a 5th grader (or even an advanced 3rd grader) and the print is large. There are several minor typos. I disagree with some of the advice, especially with regard to feeding. (It says feeding 2 mice at one meal is okay. No, it's really not best practice.) This is also the only resource I've ever seen that says corn snakes are picky eaters. All I've ever heard is that they are the best eaters of the serpent world - and that is certainly true for my own experience. Corns are also particularly good escape artists, which is true of all snakes, but especially corns. The book suggests using a weight on top of an ill-fitting Vivarium lid. Um, NO! An ill-fitting lid on a Vivarium is a serious problem that needs to be resolved quickly and you need to have a latch, preferably one that can be locked. Weights on top may be fine with a baby, but they grow and get stronger. Weights can also be forgotten... And if they are books, they can get picked up to be read. I do like the emphasis they put on the wellbeing of snakes, and they are absolutely correct on the issue of "probing" a snake to determine its sex. Basically, don't. I'm happy I bought this, but it could never serve as the primary resource for a corn snake owner.

Contains next to no useful information
This book contains very little information that a new keeper needs to know such as temperatures what size Prey to feed. Not worth the time to read.

Interesting and informative
This book is a good start for people considering keeping a corn snake. There are several typos in the book but these do not affect the overall read. For beginners, it would be helpful to have a list of essential and desirable equipment.
