As many reviewers write, and as the product description clearly states, the neon bulbs displaying voltage are hard to see in broad daylight. They're very readable in Zone 7a at dusk. The probe is solid. The hook makes it easy to hang on a high tensile fence, stick the probe in moist soil and read the results.

This fence tester works really well giving the user an accurate measure of how powerful their fence is. Yes the lights are not bright enough to see in bright sunlight, but if you simply cover it with your hat or a piece of cardboard or aper, you can see is easily. When its cloudy or early or late in the day, the lights are very bright and easily seen and interpreted. The cord to the ground electrode is long enough to test the top wire on almost any fence. I am totally happy with this tester and see no real reason to spend more money on anything else. Buy and use with confidence.

Junk right out of the box. You cant see the lights because the effing thing doesn't work... at all. Stupid me thinking $13.00 will get you quality. What a waste of time.

The lights are to hard to see in sunlight which makes it difficult to see the intensity of fence level
