WP41 - Religious Favorites - Bastien Older Beginner Piano Library Spiral-bound – Student Edition, November 19, 1997

I'm midway through the Faber Accelerated Piano Adventures for the older beginner Level 2 book (great method books) and this Hymn book is a really is a good fit as a supplement. Not too hard, but also not too easy either. Some take a few days to get up to tempo and some take a few weeks so difficulty varies (for me at least). Melody with the right hand and simple chords or single bass notes in the left in most of the hymns I've learned so far. Some of they hymns are easier than others. The nice thing about hymns is they are for the most part one page arrangements so you can learn on rather quickly and playing a few of them over time has really helped my left hand chord play. Hopefully will look back one day and see this as easy stuff but right now it is the perfect blend of challenging yet achievable. Really good book to supplement what I'm learning in the method books. With so many hymns to choose from I doubt I'll play them all but it's a good list to select from and a lot of sheet music at my level for the money.

This music book is good for beginner pianist who wants to learn hand exercises and finger placement with the use of beautiful religious music. The songs in the book are what we use to sing at Church so it’s really inspiring for me when I play it. I’m a beginner and this helps me a lot

Fantastic arrangements for piano students who are not advanced. I use this book for one of my adult students who is 75, and who also has the beginning of alzheimer's. She never learned piano as a child, but is able to recognize these hymns and learn these fairly simple arrangements. Some are more difficult than others. I have a doctorate in piano performance, and teach all ages/levels. I really like this book for those students who can read notes fairly well but are not advanced enough to tackle the more difficult arrangements.

Good music selection. Fits right in with the other piano book my teacher uses.

This hymnal is just perfect for those who started playing the piano in order to praise God. It's frustrating being a beginner at my age and this book was just what I need to keep on plowing thru the education. The hymns are written to coincide with Bastion's Level 1 course book. Easy to work thru. I am so thankful.......

Fair mix of hymns. A little easier to play than most SATB hymnal arrangements so I'd say it's friendly for kids, and adults who just started learning, or haven't played in a long time. Also includes chords if you want jazz things up.

I bought this book to play hymns at church when I have to fill in at the last minute. They are very simple and easy to learn. I tend to panic when I have to play for people who are singing. These arrangements are easy for me to play along while the congregation sings. I mostly play the songs that appear in our Methodist hymnal. There are many to choose from.
