Great Career and Personality Guide
I've listened to this book numerous times on audio, and it's great having it visual, too. This book is quite possibly the best career book I've ever read along with the best description of the MBTI system that I've found. The first half of the book is all about finding type. I went into the book having a good idea of mine, and this book backed up my thoughts, and it also provided many examples to explain about the different types and how they manifest in real life. The focus is mostly on the workplace, but many of the ideas and examples can be translated to one's personal life (and the Tiegers have written books about relationship and parenting with MBTI in mind, as well). The second half goes into each of the 16 types and provides 3 descriptions of people with that type as well as a large amount of information about that type's general strengths and weaknesses, what that type generally needs to be fulfilled, and strategies that work well for that type in looking for a job or adapting their current job to make it better for their personality. This book really helped me when I was struggling for motivation in looking for a new job while at a job I did not like. It helped me to understand the reasons why I was not fulfilled at my current job and what I would need to be fulfilled. It's helped me to narrow my job search and skip over those jobs that I know, right out of the gate, would not be good for me because they go directly against the things that I need for my type (i.e. I'm an introvert, so I should to avoid jobs with heavy personal interaction, like customer service or PR jobs).Absolutely recommend to anyone interested in the MBTI, anyone looking for a job, or anyone just wanting to find out more about who they are and why they think and act like they do.

Narrow Down Your Options Using Personaility Type
I've read many career books over the years and surprisingly found this one quite informative and useful. Some folks do not put much faith in the Meyers Briggs (MB) personality tests. To each their own. I, for one, have found them useful and mostly accurate and that comes from a born skeptic. The usefulness of the book lies in the structure and detail the author delves into matching personality type to types of work. I have read no other book that goes in the same level of detail. It helps narrow down your options.Personality type is only one factor however. What the books lacks is an big picture approach. This is why I gave it 4/5. A better book for the high level review would be What Color is Your Parachute.I am looking forward to combining the two in my career search effort.

Fantastic resource for writers!
It really does a wonderful job explaining the various skills each type has and how those skills could be applied in various jobs, which is so helpful for writers stuck on character development. Realistic jobs for believable and relatable characters. So glad I bought this book!

Do you want to see what types of vocations match your personality Type? Do Not buy this book!
Getting the most from this book will depend on your background. I was an instructor at two major universities in communication. This book is not for a high school kid trying to find what interests them. The book would be great as a supplement to.a short course with a very good instructor. The book is not an easy read and does require some knowledge of research in psychology, communications or social science. You can't just read and see yourself as a certain type of personality. There no self-administered test in the book. You can't plug your answers into a key and get a profile for the best jobs for your personality. The reviews are plugged in paid people in my opinion. This read is not easy for a 4-year college prepared reader. It is an exciting field for study but not for 90% of people who just want to find their niche. It is not that you are not smart enough. The author is smart. He uses multiple letters, in combinations, that stand for personality types. There are very fine lines between the related personality types. The reader will not see the difference between these personality types that share 3 of 4 characteristics. Then types that share half of the characteristics and finally comparing those with just one or no characteristics in common. If you can follow this little example of the basis of personality types, you could read this book and get a lot from this book. If you want to know what kind of person does it take to do Nursing, Plumbing or Computer code writing, I suggest an on-line test of your vocational interests and then a book like "What color is your Parachute.". The read is clinical and very dry. I would have to be very motivated to finish this book. I challenge Amazon reviewers to decided for themselves if it is "exciting". It is fraudulent in my opinion. What Color Is Your Parachute? 2017: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-ChangersWhat Color Is Your Parachute? 2017: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-ChangersThe Everything Career Tests Book: 10 Tests to Determine the Right Occupation for You (Everything®)

A great book if you're uncertain what job or career you should pursue at any time in life. Your personality is all about your innate abilities. Once you know that and the skills you love to use, you have the perfect recipe for enjoyable work.

Fantastic
This book will help you find the job you are tailored for. There’s a description of personality types, then a test and then the results: are you a perfect fit to be an engineer or an advertising consultant? I wish I had read this book 20 years ago, anyway, it’s never too late
