I've been looking for a SIM reader that works with Windows 10. At first, I thought this was another failed attempt but after contacting the company, they helped me get it working. The reader picked up my microSD card with no problem but I couldn't figure out how to get my SIM to read. The instruction sheet helped me insert the SIM properly with the help of the SIM adapters that were included. Here's where I went wrong. I didn't install the SIM editing software which is require to even read any data on the SIM. When I did install it, I didn't see any data on the SIM. This is where the company helped me most. My SIM from my iPhone simply doesn't store SMS and contacts to the SIM. The reader was working right and I verified this by inserting an old SIM that I knew had text messages on it and sure enough, there they were.I was going to give this only 4 stars because of the generic packaging and plain paper printed instructions but the fact that I got support for a $12 product made me overlook that.

Horrible product does not read any type of sim
Horrible product does not read any type of sim, will not be recognized under Linux, Windows, or Mac. I work in computer forensics for a very large law enforcement agency and deal with a LOT of sim cards and was looking for an alternative to the other readers in our lab that my coworkers seem to hoard all the time. Unfortunately this is a piece of junk.

Install the included software and it works great
This works quite well. I have never tried to see what is on a SIM card before. I have a SIM card from a cancelled account and took a look. I was hoping to see my old contact list but it wasn't there(I tried to find it by just connecting the phone to my computer but this phone is too old and very little information was available that way also). So, I wondered if this really worked. To test it, I tried writing contact information onto the SIM card. It worked! I was able to read it back and also erase it(by writing null information over it). I was also able to read basic configuration information from the card. Of course, you can't do anything with a SIM card until you install the software from the included disk. You may find that reading a SIM card is disappointing, but this will read whatever is on it.

See SIM Info!
Works like it should. Like having a way to check the SIM info.

It does work pretty good for flash drives though
This product was difficult to use and really did not work out for what I needed it for. It does work pretty good for flash drives though.

Unlike like a lot of unlucky reviewers
Returning to Amazon. Unlike like a lot of unlucky reviewers, I did received the software and the disc was readable by my computer and I was able to install the software. That is where the positive comments about this product end for me. As many other reviewers noted (I should have read reviews before purchasing), the sim card adapters do not securely hold the sim card in place. Actually this is an understatement. They don't "hold" the card at all, there is a cut out the shape of a sim card, but nothing at all to hold in place, no even a moderately tight fit. Turn the adapter with sim on it upside down and it falls right out. Despite this, like many other reviewers, I went ahead and tried inserting the card and adapter into the reader, being very careful to hold it all the right way to keep card from falling off adapter and hoping that once inside the reader it would stay in place. Not so. The card fell off inside the reader and I had a moment of panic where I thought my sim card (for my one and only cell phone) was lost unless I destroy the reader to get it. Luckily a few shakes got it back out. Still desperate to try and see if the reader would work (and encouraged by the fact that I had been able to install the software) I tried dabbing a tiny bit of glue from a glue stick on the back of the sim card then sticking that to the adapter. It worked like a charm to get the card to stay in place and wiped off easily when I was done. Again as many other reviewers have noted, once installed, the adapter sticks out quite a bit from the body of the reader and this makes it difficult to plug into a lot of normal usb ports. I couldn't get it to fit into any on my computer, but luckily I had a male/female usb adapter cord that I was able to plug into my computer and then plug reader into that. The software did recognize the reader and the fact that the sim card was installed, but when I tried to view either the phonebook or sms messages, it only returned lots of blanks. As mentioned this is a sim card from my cell phone I use regularly so I know it had contacts and sms messages on it. I also tried another card from an old phone with the same result. Bottom line, do not waste your money on this. From my experience and the reviews I've read, your chances of actually getting past all obstacles and pulling usable info off your card and slim to none.
