They were easy to put together and can be customized to fit a specific space bc each square is 2 X 2. The top layer is a harder surface but the bottom is cushiony so it gives a little if you jump. Because of the cushiony feeling, I don’t need extra mats if doing exercises on my knees but I can still balance well when doing yoga.
