very cute - I bought this for my husband as a 2nd year wedding anniversary gift and he was touched and I loved it. One thing I could say is, it would have been cool if on the top part of the cover when you open it, there are some short notes or dedication we could choose from for example: "I love you and I always will" ; "You are precious to me", etc. etc. then they could probably print it out and paste it on that top part of the cover -- that would be cute if they could do that. :)

Gift
Gave as a gift to a friend who is into boating and who enjoys historical science items. I thought it would be simply used as a paperweight on his desk, but he was delighted with the vintage brass compass and talked about how the item would have been used.

This piece was purchased as a gift.
The sundial/compass appears to be well-made and has a classic vintage brass look to it. The presentation box is nice but I wish it had a deeper, smoother, finish. Even so, I think it is priced right and will make a cool desk-top conversation piece .

Makes a Good Paperweight
This item is advertised as a decorative compass. While it is a nice piece, the pin seeding used for the compass arrow is junk - I know - I received 2 of them, and neither compass faces worked. I returned bith. Unlike this $40 piece, the $6 Coleman compass I bought for a child's gift was better built & worked.
