Not great for self leveling concrete mixing
Was trying to mix up Quikrete High Performance self leveling concrete in 5 gallon buckets. This mixer did not mix well at all. First time using the Quickcrete product and followed directions exactly. Thought it was mixed, poured it out big clumps on unmixed powder all along sides of bucket. Concrete didn't flow, essentially ruined that section of floor. Added more water to second bucket mixer still didn't work great, but better. Thought it mixed so go to pour, nope chucks of powder not mixed in. Second bucket ruined. well that's 60 bucks down the drain and a terrible floor area. I then switched to a eggbeater style different mixer paddle. Added same amount of water as last bucket, mixed it like a champ, got the smooth batter consistency I was expecting. Pour goes great, no unmixed concrete on sides of bucket. The drill also performed much longer with the eggbeater style.I make no claims against any other product or usage but did not work well for my application. I decided though to keep it to try it out on mixing paint later. Looks like it will work great for that. So for mixing self leveling concrete in buckets I don't recommend. I did find a online video later that specifically called out using an eggbeater style vs this double helix style for that type of work.

this paddle is perfect for mixing all types of liquids in a 5 ...
Used it for mixing 350 lb of cement based underlayment with 1/2" electric drill. It did the job but the red paint came off in multiple places. So now I am worried about long term corrosion issues.Planned to use it in mixing paints as well but now have to skip that idea. You got to have a very powerful drill and strong hands to use this paddle to mix concrete or Portland cement; it will jerk to sides and may suddenly stop rotating once the mixture gets thick. In my opinion, this paddle is perfect for mixing all types of liquids in a 5 gal bucket but I would not recommend using it to mix stuff like mortar or cement unless you have a heavy and powerful tool for this paddle and you don't plan on mixing more than 3-5 gal in one shot. One more thing, if you don't watch the proper rotation speed (and go on a high end) your cement based mix will lose water and will harden faster forcing you to add more water throwing off the numbers from the original specification.

Great mixer for a corded or cordless drill
Great mixer for a corded or cordless drill! Does a great job with mixing and I haven't had any issues while mixing bags of concrete (about 300 bags now). MUCH easier/faster than mixing by mini-shovel!!Only downside: I read the reviews before buying and one of the things I read was that the red paint chipped off pretty easily. I can confirm this to be correct. The paint started coming off on the FIRST bag! It does not flake off in big flakes, so that's nice and hides easily in the mix.Note to manufacturer: great mixer! I would just leave it bare and not paint it as the paint chips off easily... or do a magnetic/fired paint job so the paint will stay on. Save the $$ and just not paint it and the product would still be just as good.

This thing works great for concrete and mortar
This thing works great for concrete and mortar. The paddle mixers in the big box stores will burn up a normal heavy duty drill but this one doesn't have as much resistance. It takes about 20 seconds to fully mix a five gallon batch of concrete, longer for mortar since it's pickier work. For one person concrete jobs I'll shovel mix into 5 buckets at a time, add water, and go around with this, mixing the buckets. Then I dump and start on the next five. Works faster my way than having a second person work a small cement mixer and if I do borrow help this method flies! One tip though: tighten the heck out of the chuck.. otherwise it will loosen up pretty quick

Great heavier duty mixer.
Great, sturdy mixer for mixing mortar and plaster. I needed a 1/2 inch mixer drill for it, because it didn't fit my standard drill chuck, too thick. Check yours. But it's probably better to use the larger mixer drill anyway, because this is made for thicker mixes(not paint). Wash it after the days use or it's hard to clean off. Non-stick coating works pretty well if you don't. I had to chip off dried plaster from it. It was tedious, but came off with no damage to the coating. I would recommend this mixer.

Sturdy piece of euipment.
Mixed several bags of concrete with this in a 5 gallon bucket. Make sure you use a powerful drill. Don't try to mix the whole bag at once. Would be awesome for mixing paint or anything else.

Works great but had to buy an adapter for my drill ...
Works great but had to buy an adapter for my drill with a socket to hold the shaft of the mixer as the shaft was too large to fit my drill. I just have to hold the shaft of the mixer in the socket adapter as it tends to fall out when it is spinning. Saves a lot of manual mixing. Used it for mortar & for grout in a 5 gallon bucket.

Sturdy and nice item
Nice item. Sturdy, does not bend or warp easily. Did the job to mix wet newspaper in large quantities for craft projects.
