The best thing about this book (to me) is that it doesn't just show you one technique for using a certain thing (say..foiling or Angelina or paint sticks....it gives you several) Like mini chapters. So when learning or showing a technique you can have more fun. It does not limit you but gives you choices and ideas to use up all the supplies and materials we all seem to eventually have tons of. Nice intro to color theory and fabric selection. Not that I've ever understood color theory, but the page on fabric selection..aw-ha!Photos are wonderful. Great reference book to have for altering and making your fabric into something more.

This book was everything I'd hoped and more. As someone who upcycles and recycles clothing, textiles and paper, I have found this has become an indispensable reference book in my techniques library. Photos are gorgeous and illustrate the techniques very well. The instructions are easy-to-follow and the results, I have found, are reliable and easy to build upon in creating one's own signature style. I recommend this to all sewists and textile artists whole-heartedly. Also, given that I run a waste-free sewing shop and design line, I have found a million new uses for found objects, recycled cardboard, my stash of a million elastic bands, etc. Everything in my recycle bin has found new uses in creating beautiful textiles from this book!!

I purchesed this book at the same time as "fabric art workshop". I did not realize they were the same author at that time. I received "fabric art workshop" first. I was kind of disappointed, but thought I would keep it as a reference book. Then I received this book today. Amazing! I love it! If you are trying to choose between the two, buy this one first! You won't be disappointed. Then you might want to buy the other one at a later date. I can see how the workshop could work off this book and add a little more inspiration.

Susan's book is a great reference book for those of us who have multitudes of supplies and need a new way to use them.

What a marvelous assortment of projects to try! I want to try all of them. The illustrations are large, colorful and easy to see.The directions are organized and easy to understand. I asm so glad that I ordered this book.

This book is a must-have for any fabric enthusiasts. The techniques are well described and the photos and directions are crystal clear. I am a beginning art quilter and am working my way through the book from page one to the end. Everything in this book is do-able no matter what your level of expertise.

I know the author and she is very good at writing books that are very understandable and packed with information.

Im very pleased with this book even though i didnt start creating yet ! Its rich in techniques, the instructions are clear. You can let your creativity express itself through textile art. I seriously cant wait to start !

Excellent resource. Lots of suggestions for using resources that are easy to get as well as a great introduction to new resources. I love this book. Best of many I purchased lately.

I think this is probably the best altered textile book I have come across. I could not put it down when it arrived and had to go back and organise my ideas and make a shopping list.It covers dozens of ideas using fusilbles, fabrics, dyes, sewing and paints etc. The techniques are covered step by step with a 'shopping' list at the start. It also offers ways to take the techniques further.It is not a book full of projects, but techniques, so if you just want to try something new or reinvigorate your textile art this this is for you.A book to keep and refer back to time and time again.Delighted.

This is an excellent book that combines lots of different ways for changing fabric surfaces all very clearly explained with photos to show stages. It updates previous experiences and gives a list of where to source the items though its more geared to the US for that.I have several book that gives me parts of what this book contains and wish I had purchased this earlier.

Amazing book for both novice an experts, full of ideas, projects et tips. Amazing pictures, the instructions are clear and the author also recommend tools to use. I bougth the book because I'm into costuming but after reading it I want to do so much more, it can really become art ! Definitively more than I expected, I do not need any other book !
