You can learn a lot from reading "Wildcatters." Even those that might not think they would enjoy a book on this subject will find it interesting.

This is a good book that gives you insight into the "get rich quick" mentality that has driven oil exploration since it's very beginning. It delves into the way oil deals are done and exposes part of the dark side of the hucksters, promoters and fraudsters that have been such a big part of the oil industry. It's the oil story equivalent of Las Vegas before the corporations took over the town.
