A great help in understanding norms of French culture and nuisance! I’ve traveled there often and found it very helpful. Great and engaging writing.

How to put this diplomatically… well, the French are not necessarily the most welcoming of visitors nor the easiest to get along with. Happily, this guide went a long way to help me see beyond the façade to understand who the French really are, how they view life and what are the things that are most important to them. In addition there were many interesting insights on festivals, traditions, cuisine and language. Perhaps most importantly, it gives very valuable advice on socializing that helped me get by unscathed and with poise intact! France is a beautiful country and their culture is unique, but it can be tricky for the uninitiated. Do yourself a favour – pack this handy little guide in your luggage!

A nice book for first time travelers to France. It gives you an insight in to the French, their history, their customs. This book will make your trip to France more enjoyable and may save you from some of the awkward situations of a "tourist".

Very informative. French culture is unique.

I really like this series and think they give a good overview to cultures. One big problem here is that I'm a few pages into this book a have found that on the map it splits France into the old regions which were reformed in 2015, and in the key facts it states 4 overseas departments - there have been 5 since 2014... then it lists France voltage at 110 or 220... again, it's been the EU standard of 230v for I don't know how many years now... so this all made me go back and check the publication date of the book - it was published in 2021!!

Only just received but looks quite good, however, I was expecting a new clean book the book I received was covered in dirty fingerprints and marks so I am not impressed.
