Best thermometer for smoking meats.
This Bluetooth remote thermometer was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve had a few different wireless thermometers but I wanted one that connected to my phone since I carry that around all the time. I used it for the first time yesterday and put a full brisket on my smoker for an overnight smoke. I placed one probe in the meat and one in barrel using the included clip. Immediately the two temps showed up on my phone. I went into the app and created my own preset that allowed me to put in a temp range so if the fire in the smoker got too hot or too cold (170-375) I would be alerted and could go fix it. A full size brisket is a big investment and my smoker has been having problems with the fire going out. I wanted to be able to go to sleep and know that if a problem arose I would be woken up and could fix it instead of waking up in the morning to find that the fire had gone out hours ago and my cooking time would be lengthened.Sure enough at around 4:15 AM the app alerted me with sound and vibration to say that temp in the smoker had dropped below 170. I jumped out of bed and saw that the fire had gone out. I quickly stoked the fire up again and got the smoker back up to temperature. Long story short, finished my brisket on time for my son’s birthday party and it received rave reviews.I buy a ton from amazon but never leave reviews. I had such a great experience with this thermometer I felt compelled to leave a review.

Best thing for Electric SMOKERS - the GOOD, the BAD, the LIMITATIONS
3 months of weekly use so far.GOOD:-Different color beads on cables & probes is great for remembering which goes to what probe.-Bluetooth works for me. I don't need much distance so at 40 feet, I had zero problems-Panel is large & readable and will be fine even if the bluetooth quits down the road. I can read it from 20ft away through a window.-Fantastic customer service. I had one probe that drifted off by 4 degrees F. (used a professional temp probe to test both probes). Seller sent me a replacement VERY quickly.-the probe and cable quality appears to be MUCH more rugged than other units on Amazon.-love the way that the probe cable winds up and secures the cable with the color bead.-Android app was easy to install and runs without hiccups.BAD:-Seller says that the probe cables must NOT be submerged in liquid.-One of my two probes drifted off a few degrees. The super fast free probe replacement made this a minor problem.LIMITATIONS:-Be sure to read other reviewers regarding the limited range of the bluetooth connection.-I HATE electric smokers that can not be LEFT OUT IN THE RAIN. So many of the newer electric/electronic control smokers have their electronics fail -- especially when left out in rainy weather. Repair cost for these built-in electonics is usually $100 - 150.-I HATE having to haul my smoker in and out of the garage, so I went with a non-digital non-electronic smoker. My smoker stays outside and I just take this Chugod thermometer inside when not in use. I leave my smoker out on the patio under a grill cover year round in rain and snow -- super convenient.

Stopped working after 5 months!!
UPDATE***** Immediately after reviewing this product and giving it a one star rating, customer service contacted me to let me know I had a warranty that they would honor with ease. They shipped a new product to me immediately, completely free of charge and it works perfectly. I don’t think I’ve ever received such wonderful customer service from any company. I would recommend this product because of such amazing customer service. I am so confident in this company that I purchased another one for a Christmas gift without hesitation.Absolutely loved this thermometer! UNTIL... after 5 months it no longer works! It had been stored in a safe, dry place in between intermittent uses and simply has stopped working. Very disappointed. Unfortunately I cannot return it, as the return window has passed... I am now stuck with a $50.00 paperweight! Save your money and don’t spend 50.00 on a product that won’t even last half the year!!

It's Making Me a Great Grill Chef!
Just like most others have said, the app needs lots of work. But overlooking that, I LOVE the hardware! It seems very accurate. Before I purchased this, I just guessed at how long to cook steak, chicken, pork chops, etc. Rarely did I ever produce a steak done perfectly or juicy chicken that was actually cooked all the way through.I've been using the thermometer for awhile now with my grill and even once in the oven to bake meatloaf. I usually place one probe in the holder that came with the equipment to measure the heat temperature of the grill/oven and place the 2nd probe in one of the pieces of meat. By the way, I found out that my oven temp fluctuates quite a bit by 25 degrees or more. The weakest point of this thermometer is the app. I hate how I can't just shut off an alarm when it rings if I don't catch it right away. The only way I found is to delete the alarms. But I do like how it has preset alarms for most basic food including rare, med. rare, medium, med. well and well done beef, veal & lamb as well as set temps for pork, chicken, turkey, fish, hamburger and several smoked settings. It also allows you to create and save your own settings for items not included in the list such as oven temps like 350 and 450 degree temps that I use frequently. Another item I like is being able to set a high and low temp warning. For example, if you want the closed grill to cook at around 400, you can set the low end at 350 and the high end at 450. It will notify you if either has been breached. I was cooking a couple chicken breasts the other day and hadn't noticed that it started to rain cooling the grill down. I grabbed my umbrella and adjusted the temp upward a bit.Yes, I only use the app at it's basic levels (to watch temperature) and don't use the graphing but I came up with the bright idea of using an old cell phone and set it up for the screen not to go to sleep. I keep this old phone in the kitchen and just shut it off when I'm done cooking. To use an old phone, just plug it in, start it up, turn on the wifi to download the app and blue tooth to connect to the thermometer. My wife loves the Great Grill Chef I've become! I'm constantly impressing her with perfectly cooked food.

Probe accuracy problem
** UPDATE **The company contacted me and sent two new probes. I changed my review to 5* to reflect the quick and positive action from the seller. The product also receives 5* for the following reason:- Including two probes in a consumer (low cost) product is a brave act by itself. In this price category the probes just can not be manufactured to high accuracy, so it will always be some deviation. The judgement is then up to the user, not a strait forward case of judgement evaluation due to lack of precise specs and measurements. Including only one probe will not bring out these problem, at least not on a trivial level.Previous review:After a few months the probes (2 each) that came with the thermometer now show different results. Placing them on the flagstone around the pool in this hot weather one of them shows 108F while the other one 115F. Besides not knowing which is good, the difference is way too big to use it as a meet thermometer. Not sure how to get replacement probes, but 3 months lifespan is certainly dismal.
