I have very limited counter space, so I was wondering how hot the sides and back of this toaster get?

I just made an English muffin and there was no heat felt on sides and back of the toaster. The only heat felt was on top near the slot with muffin.

Does Bagel function only toast the inside of the bagel, also when not using bagel function does bread toast properly?

Hi! The info above says the bagel setting is intended to make the outside crisp and leave the inside soft, for those who like that. I guess you could reverse it if you wanted to. But if you like both the outside AND the inside crisp, then you just don't choose the bagel setting; you toast it with the normal setting.

just received mine and it makes a high pitched noise when plugged in. Anyone else notice this?I'm wondering if I should exchange it or get a dif brand

Just bought this toaster (2 slice model, August 2019) and it DOES make a high pitched sound when plugged in. It drives my kids crazy (they have better hearing than I do). I really like it otherwise, but I'm going to have to return it.

we are limited in space - can you tell us if the toaster is 12" long or is that the height?

Standard slots are about 5.5 inches plus the 1.75 inches on each end would equal 9 inches. Also, 4 slots about 1.5 inches wide equals 6 inches plus the 3 one inch spaces between them and about 1.75 inches on each end would total 12.5 inches. That leaves 8 inches for the height. Therefore, the Amazon outside dimensions would have to be correct at 12.3 inches across the front x 9 inches deep x 8 inches high. I hope this helps.
