Great short gators - used for hiking in grasses primarily
I bought these to wear while I play disc golf, in typically grassy wooded areas. Without them, stickers in your socks and shoes every 20 minutes... pain in the backside. With these, no issues. I've been happy so far. I did not put the velcro on the back of my shoes, but they stay in place even without. The one knock I have is that these would be better with a 'buckle' strap as opposed to a heavy duty shoelace that runs under the shoe. They are one piece, slip on gators, so you do have to remove your shoes to put them on, but they work great. I'd buy them again.

Great, comfortable design
I was looking for some comfortable gaiters for trail running. These looked like they would fit the bill so I tried them.PROS: -They are a nice, soft material that doesn't chafe my skin so I can wear the low socks I usually wear. -The shock cord a the top is a nice touch and allows you to tighten or loosen the top collar. -The color stands out and the reflective detail is nice -The double hooks at the front end of the gaiter grab my shoe laces nicely (see CON about this feature too). -The back of the gaiter has a rubbery patch that grabs the shoe nicely. I can use them easily without adhering the velcro to my shoe. -I like the under-shoe cord for extra security (see CON about this feature too).CONS: -There is a stiff plastic piece at the front of the gaiter which the double lace hooks are attached to. I understand the reason for it but it's stiff and flat which makes it stick out funny near the toe/mid-section of the shoe. The picture shows the gaiter conforming nicely to the curve of the top of the shoe. That is inaccurate. It should be pre-curved somehow to alleviate the issue. The only real issue is causes is that it looks funny. I can deal with that but still.... - While I like the under-shoe cord, there has to be a better way to attach it. you have to tie it on every time you use the gaiter. An affixed shock cord or a cinch-lock would solve this problem. So, I added my own, more durable under-shoe cord with a cinch-lock on one end and knot on the other. It works for me.I ended up buying two pair - one for me and one for hubby. We like them.

Great hiking gaiters!
Love these short gaiters - great to keep sand, pebbles, pine needles, etc out of your sock and shoes. Provides some warmth as well.

Keeps stuff out of your shoes and socks clean
These gaiters fit very nice over my Salomon x-ultra shoes (size 9.5). They probably would stay in place without the hook and loop piece on the shoe but I used it. I removed the tie string that goes under the shoe and used a small shock cord for easy in and out. After about 10 uses walking 40 acres or so each time some wear is showing on the rear of the gaiters, no holes or tears just starting to look a little threadbare. I am using them mainly for disc golf, to keep poison oak and grass burrs and stickers off my socks and shoes. For that purpose they work fantastically and I have not had to throw anymore socks away or spend and hour picking stuff out of my shoes and socks. Would buy again but will probably try a gaiter that things won't stick to. These are lightweight and have been great for summer.

Don't Waste Your $$
I bought these for my fiancee for Christmas to use while trail running in snow, slush, etc during the winter. Unfortunately, (it now being March 1st) he has just tried them on for the first time and they would be a DEFINITE return except it is well past the return date. As described by other reviewers, the weird, plastic rim does not conform &/or grip around his shoe. The lace used to go under the shoe to help hold them down must be hand threaded and tied - also a poor design for a running shoe that doesn't have a heel distinguished prominently from the sole because there is no area where it will not be compressed between the ground and his shoe (I'm sure it's going to wear and break after his first run). The fabric is nice, but the design poor. They also come with four velcro sticky pads that you are to stick to the back of your shoe to help hold them in place, which is not transferable from one pair to another. OR should consider a zipper or velcro seam down the length like a normal gaiter, rather than this poor, pull on design. Save yourself the money and try something else.

Good concept but manufacturing refinements needed
These gaiters are comfortable and work well. However, they developed tears along the top seams after only 50 hours of use in the New Hampshire White Mountains. The gaiters come with a lifetime warranty, but I expect more from Outdoor Research products.
