This is not a book for the faint-hearted looking for an A to Z of Spirituality
I can't praise this book enough. As the name would imply, a spiritual path is a route to finding the means by which one might discover one's self (or, as GDR prefers, Self). We are, all of us, on a Spiritual Path whether we realise it or not - Gregory David Roberts book reveals this to the reader in an ingenious way by systematically exploring the psychological layers which make up the human personality. To make the most of this book the reader is required to scrutinise each of these layers that they may reveal to the self the essential Self at the core of each and every one of us.

Not what I expected...
First off, I loved Shantaram and Mountain Shadow, and given the spiritual nuances contained in them I had high hopes for this book. I feel perhaps my expectations were misplaced.Let's be clear, the book would be less misleading if it were called 'My Spiritual Path' since it essentially comes down to the authors opinions and experiences, most of which centre on an empty shell. Unfortunately, this feels like a fitting metaphor, as the book seems hollow and lacking substance.Maybe I've just missed the point, but I wouldn't recommend this for anyone except GDR himself. If you're interested in a spiritual path, there are far more useful and beneficial ways to get started.

Preordered… and a big no.
Imagine Khalil Gibran’s ‘The Prophet’ but incoherent and arbitrarily capitalised on every page. Expected more from the author of Shantaram but seems he has fallen victim to the trappings of faux-Eastern philosophy. Don’t waste your money. If your goal is enlightenment, perhaps what you want to do, is to close this tab and meditate.
