Bye bye Futaba!
Coming from a long history of Futaba transmitters. Don't get me wrong Futaba's are excellent controllers! I am coming off of a Futaba T8J. The Spektrum is just a lot more versatile. Bind and fly anything, is what sold me on Spektrum, and the lack of versatility is what made me say goodbye to Futaba. The DX8 does feel just a little more "plasticky" compared to the T8J and the gimbals seem to be ever-so- slightly less smooth on the DX8. The DX8's GUI and function controls are a lot easier to use. Goodbye Futaba! Hello Spektrum!

Easy to setup
This transmitter is amazing. Great build quality and value for the money. Instructions weren't hard to follow despite what some reviews said. I would suggest watching some youtube channels such as Flite Test to help with the first time setup. I have only around 20 hours in the air and this was a breeze for me to setup.

Nothing beats Spektrum radios
This is my fourth Spektrum radio, used Futaba for years until I bought my first DX6 years ago and fell in love. Since then I've owned a DX9 black edition, DX6, and iX12 but this DX8 Gen 2 is by far my favorite radio. It has all the functions and features I loved in the DX9, including voice alerts and couldn't be easier to use. Tried out the iX12 but the android operating system is too clunky, slow, and unreliable, not to mention the option of having so many apps just doesn't work for everyone. If you're looking for a solid radio and need more than 6-channels I highly recommend this radio. It makes the perfect step up from the DX6 and much cheaper than the DX9 with all the features. Only complaint is the battery charging, which is not a bad thing at all just an inconvenience factor really. I loved how the DX9 had a built in charger port with a blue light that indicated charging status. This DX8 does not, you need to remove the battery cover and plug in the charger, which doesn't indicate whether it's actually charging. You can turn it on to verify, but otherwise just remember the charger is rated at 500mah and the battery is 2000mah so it should take no longer than 4 hours to charge from a dead state. Overall great price, lots of features and expandability in the future. If you're considering this radio, just buy it you won't regret it!

box a little damaged but great transmitter
It came in a amazon box that was not damaged but the box the transmitter came in was not factory sealed and had a little damage on it. When I opened the box every thing was still wrapped in plastic so I do not know if the sides of the box should be tapped shut or notThe transmitter was vary easy to use this is my first transmitter and I had my plane set up in about 20 minutes. You can also set up quad copters and helicopters on this transmitter. Over all I would give the transmitter a 5 stare ratingPros/tipsEasy to set upMultiple air vehiclesHit the back and cancel butin at the same time it will take you to create a new air vehicleAssign switches by moving that switchCompatible with hobby zone safe models and the blade seriesCons:PriceDamaged box

Tons of features/adjustments
FIRST TIME RC flyer-OLD control line/free flight flyer. After watching bunch of flitetest youtube vids on electric planes I was hooked. Wanted a high end transmitter and I GOT IT in the DX8G2 ! Had some early trouble binding receiver to transmitter but Spektrum support team helped me out. Transmitter has lots of menu adjustments getting started out in this hobby. Big bang for the buck !

Buyer beware of Amazon Warehouse deals. Missing parts they did not say were missing
Power supply to recharge the batteries in the transmitter was missing. The money I'm going to have to spend to replace it along with what I spent thru Amazon Warehouse is going to cost me more than a brand new transmitter would have cost. A complete waste of money on a dinged up scuffed up transmitter.

Powerful and Intuitive
I started with a Spektrum DX6i. As a beginner I found its instruction book incomprehensible, and the user interface felt straight out of a 1980's video arcade game. YouTube to the rescue; many amateur DX6i video tutorials later I was able to make it do what I needed. The DX6i's anemic 10-model memory was quickly exhausted as I got more into the hobby, and I was obliged to pick up another transmitter. I won't use up its 250-model memory in this lifetime.Compared to the DX6i, the DX8 is remarkably intuitive to use. Doubtless this is because I'd conquered some of the arcane language of RC model programming in my time with the DX6i. Even so, the menus and setup are an order of magnitude more logical and easy to understand. Its manual is just as impenetrable as the DX6i's. I set it aside and just played with the settings. In minutes I was able to understand and execute the setup of a five-channel fixed-wing model. The ease of working through the settings in the DX8 has emboldened me to refine my control mixes and take advantage of other features in my fleet of RC aircraft. Now I want to move all of my planes to this transmitter...
