Items are as described in the ad. They are compact, provide great illumination and delivery was prompt. However, although one of the lamps functions exactly as it should, the other won't shut off when the lamp is collapsed. This necessitates the removal of the batteries each time the lamp is not in use to ensure that the batteries are not being used while the lamp is collapsed. I've written to the seller about the problem but no response as yet. Aside from experiencing one problematic lamp, I recommend the product. I'm surprised about the lack of seller response though. The lamps merit 5 stars but I've awarded only three because of the lack of seller assistance response re the bad lamp.

Solid built plastic, very bright, magnets very handy. Use the magnets to attach objects to when lamp is in hanging position as well. Four stars only until I have used in rain, as I see no rubber seals on battery compartment at bottom, hesitant to verify waterproof. Will update accordingly. Update: Water resistant, not "waterproof". Took batteries out and put lamp in sink with one inch water covering base. After 3 minutes removed lamp, dried outside, and removed base from battery compartment. Water found in top of base cap as per photo. Tried this 3 times, always with same result. "Water resistant only"!

These are a great, low cost, small and portable LED lantern. Since they take AA batteries, easy to use rechargables. The brightness is completely subjective. It depends on your usage and expectations. I have used them for ice fishing at night where I put one on each side of the hole (when not in a hut). They work pretty good but since I'm out in the open, I wish they were brighter so plan on getting another set. If I was in a hut, I expect they would be brighter. But for being small and light and somewhat water resistant, they do the job.

Given that near identical lanterns can be purchased from a multitude of retail outlets now, I had come across very similar units before and had a certain expectation of quality. Upon arrival I noticed that neither of the lanterns would slide open without a tremendous amount of force and the same would apply for closing. Further, since such force needed to be applied, it felt as though the plastic housings would not take well to this after repeated attempts.On a more positive note, the lanterns are quite bright.

I must say that I'm quite surprised how bright these are. I love that the amount of light is adjustable simply by pulling or pushing on the lamp. The magnets are quite powerful and are more than strong enough to hold the light securely. I've put one on the fridge in case of a power failure and the other one in my car in case of emergencies.This is a great deal for 2 lamps and they come with the batteries!
