Two military experts present a fascinating exploration of the world's finest combat aircraft, comparing and contrasting adversaries in aerial warfare. From the German Fokker Triplane of World War I and the Allied SPAD XIII, through famous World War II adversaries such as the Hurricane and the Bf 109, to modern aircraft, including the MiG-29 and the F-16, Military Aircraft - Dogfights from WWII to Present Day looks at warplanes that have done aerial battle against each other. Illustrations display each aircraft with spectacular three-quarter-view art, accompanied by detailed specifications and development history - including the particular squadron associated with that model. Not a bad book but....
This book is okay but the title is quite misleading. The title states "Dogfights from WW2 to the present day". However the book covers bombers and attack aircraft as well as fighters and in most cases the aircraft they pair up throughout the book have rarely faced off. Therefore the book is more a comparison and spec book with stories relating to any combat each aircraft has been in rather than occasions when they met in a dogfight.
