Litrpg gold
Seems straightforward litrpg but the twists and possibilities as he builds and reveals the world and future baddies has been page turning can’t wait for more.

Good story, vast world building with goals of epic storytelling.. however...
I'd like the story however book 2 seemed a bit of a disappointment. I was about 130 pages in, and I think I understood what was bothering me. The story reads as if the author was a dungeon master in a D&D game, and he was forcing the characters to follow the storyline. At no time in this book did the characters really have a choice of what they had to do, it was forced on them from when they woke up in the morning until they finished battling at night. And it took all the thrill and mystery out of the book. I know the main character was going to survive, I knew there would be anguish and loss, but it didn't add to the thrill of the story in any way.. it seemed contrite. The world the author built in the story goal is rather epic, it just seems to be missing any kind of excitement in the read. I'm not sure book three is going to make it onto my reading lists I haven't decided. Can honestly say I like the story but the pace and the obvious foreshadowing, along with predictable tropes and plots.. I was bored.

Good stuff
Excellent writing, epic battles, and great characters. Definitely worth a read. This is the part where I keep typing to meet word quota.

A rather good sequel
This is my second foray into the LitRPG format. This series so far has a well made world, though some of the creature names are a bit.. derivative. I decided that they were "made close but not quite" the words used by that famous rpg system probably for licensing reasons. It is not enough to dent the storyline or the flow. The Main character is a "Marty Stu" though. It is kind of irritating. The supporting characters are well written and they make up for the lack of struggle the MC has to deal with to be suddenly super good at everything he tries. I have hopes the MC will start to demonstrate actual character growth soon because his leveling is finally slowing down by the end of this book.

Like the plot but the author needs experience
Nice plot but the author isn't always up to the task of writing the story of the extraordinary personas in the story. The cool military slash secret agent of MC is as new to action as anyone except on the rare occasion and the cool bad guy without feelings is constantly being surprised or aggrivated by minor things. The story made me buy book 2 but the

More entertaining than the first one
This book is more engaging than the first one (which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 3), but I still feel like it’s missing something. Every time I’m reading between the action scenes it starts to lose my attention and I often fall asleep or get lost in my thoughts.I also think putting the stat dump right before climactic scenes was a bad idea. Just as the action is building I end up having to read pages of stats and upgrades. I just skim them because, of course, I’m excited to see what comes next. Also, I think the author forgot that one of the characters was afflicted with corruption?? When they get to elf-ville the elves said they know no cure for corruption, so I have to assume it was never healed. But then it’s never brought up again. Maybe I missed something. This is also the first LitRPG I’ve read where the stats don’t really seem to matter because the MC keeps finding loopholes. I guess maybe that’s how the author intended to have a fresh approach, but the result is that there’s a lot of struggling and losing, and then the MC manages to slip through and save the day. I’m not a fan of all this struggling, and I’m not a fan of all the loopholes. I’m undecided on whether I should continue reading or not. There’s a lot of good stuff in here, like the other characters, and the cool dwarf kingdom, but I’m not sure about Gryph yet and this almost grimdark writing. :/Edit: I decided to proceed with Book 3, and while it’s really short, it’s a lot more fun and entertaining to read. After that I went on to book 4 and found that the story there has improved a lot too.

Great book!
I just finished this book. I have to say it was an excellent sequel to the first one. I can’t wait to hear the next one the adventures continue!

Careful, this one is hard to put down. I lost a large amount of sleep to it. No regrets at all!

Recommend
I have to say I really enjoyed this and was pleased that it was as good as the first book in the series. Well written with good interesting characters, both new to this book and brought forward from the last book. A good plot as well. If I had any complaint it would be the overall plot of the series that was part of the first book was not advanced or really touched upon but that the story, while a good one, was self contained.I ended up listening to about a third of the book using Whispersync and it doesn't disappoint.

Raises The Stakes
We learn more about the Realms and the threats that they face. Lots of action. This time it's a dungeon crawl through a dwarf ruin. Although Gryph's magical abilities have scaled up he needs wits to overcome the boss in this one. Not as much game mechanics in this one. I didn't spot the betrayer so well done on that front. Like all the best RPG's character deaths are a given. I'll be reading the next one.

Boring

Nice
OK the stakes really ramped up quickly here. Book 2 and already facing world ending problems? With true consequences. Loved it
