Let's look at this thing with the proper perspective
Let's take a look at this thing piece by piece. As background, I am a "trainwreck" as my medical professionals put it. I've lived on painkillers, nerve medicines, muscle relaxers, and whatever self medication I can come up with. Draw your own opinion but the truth hurts and so do I. Back to the conversation. NOTHING save the above and Accupuncture has helped. I was referred to this unit by my father who has been much the same. The unit has been upgraded as I understand it: 1. The band has been upgraded as it has previous slipped down user's legs. 2. The electrodes with the starter unit are pathetic, customer service recommends the "Sports" version for better adhesion. The new band is great. I'm still using the initial electrodes with some "sea salt" (believe it or not) which creates better adhesion and what I believe better conductivity. Also, I've used the "Alpha Stim" Electrode gel which seems to help as well. Anything to avoid the overpriced replacement electrodes (which you will have to purchase in any case). Any of these providers, Alpha Stim, Tens units and the Quell make their money on the electrodes. Does it work? I have Grade 3 arthritis in my right knee (subject to four operations thus far). This worked the first day to reduce the discomfort. It won't solve the problem and Quell is very straight up about that. Nerve pain? Yep, got that as well and this unit has reduced my hip, thigh, and lower back nerve shooters - which when they hit really get my attention. Hoping the unit will put off knee replacement and back surgery. So far so good. So, conclusion? Overall, works pretty well so far. The electrode price will sting quite a bit but not as bad as arthritis and those nerve shooters. Maybe Quell can adjust those prices or offer packages such that it's not as expensive (are you listening Quell?) Enjoy your Christmas Day. This was a present from my wife, a Physician - and I really appreciate her consideration.

A total waste of time and money!
I have severs periferal neuropathy and had much hope that the device would ease some of the pain and enable me to take less pain medication. The first device I received I wore for about three weeks and thought that it might indeed be helping. I had four knee surgeries so it was hard to tell how much it was helping because of the surgical pain. After about three weeks the device stopped charging. I had trouble from the start with the hole in the device that one has to input the charger because it was somewhat too small. It took me about five minutes each night just to get the thing connected so it would charge. If one wears the device all day, you have to charge it during one of the off times in order to wear it at night. It stopped charging. I called the company and they begrudging sent me a new one. The piece of fabric that you put the device inside of in order to wear it began to look very tacky and stretched out so much that it would slip down my leg. This is after a few weeks and most people would have to wear it forever if it worked, and after a few weeks it looked terrible and cheap. I told them when i called but they refused to send me a new one. I could buy a new one though. The new one arrived and I put it inside the tacky leg strap and tried again. After two days it also stopped charging. I called again. They were rude, uncaring and told me to call Amazon. They really care about a client in pain, right. I called Amazon and thankfully they indeed refunded the money for the device. The four sets of electrodes I had ordered were not refunded. In sum, I think the device has promise, but the manufacturer has to use good materials so the device actually works for a very long time, and one can have it on your leg and not be embarrassed by how cheap, stretched out and dirty it looks.(even after washing it). They might also employ people who care about people and try to imagine how horrible it is to live in chronic pain. The representatives I spoke with were uncaring and outright rude. They did not care what I thought, how I felt about the device, or even to inquire if I felt it was helping me. As someone else already wrote, the electrodes are $30., and they work for about 5 to 6 days. I know this for sure because the device began to say I needed to increase the intensity, and I had it at 90%. Perhaps it is a device that could somewhat ease ones pain, but don't buy it unless you can afford to spend about $100. per month on electrodes, buy new leg bands twice per month, and be able to buy a new device after it stops charging. That could be every few days because they don't care and Amazon can't continue to do what the Quell people should do. It is very sad that profit and stock holders are the only thing this Quell company cares about. Using the cheapest materials and obviously no quality control makes a bigger profit and people in pain are only there to be used. Don't buy this. Hopefully, another manufacturer will make this product and back it up. S Heap

Worth trying, I'm a convert.
After reading the many reviews and the various detraction's to the device and given my chronic pain issues and the 60 day return policy, I decided to give it a shot. First I will say that within a few days of use, I have experienced a significant reduction in my chronic pain. However there is one major caveat, in that after about ten days of use, I came down with a major head cold and was taking tylenol containing cold medications for about three days, but the pain relief from the Quell device was apparent both before and after my cold medicine use. I normally use prescription strength Ibuprofen (800mg) on a regular basis and occasionally narcotic Lortabs. I have used very little pain medicine since (with the exception of the cold meds) since using the device. The comments on the electrodes are spot on. My first electrode that came with the Quell lasted about 12 days. I used the device 12 days out of 14. By the last day it was beginning to sting, which the manufacturer states it's time to change the electrodes. I tried the Spectra 360 electrode gel, applying only a small amount, can't say it made a whole lot of difference in the longevity of the electrodes, but in all fairness, I didn't do it that often, it wasn't convenient to do when switching position from one leg to another during the work day. I work 12 hr shifts. Bottom line is that the device works for me and is worth the money in my opinion. Noticed in the various comment here on Amazon is the use of Sensus electrodes from LG medical. They are supposed to last longer and are less expensive than those sold for the Quell device. There may have been a difference at one time, but now both devices use the same electrode. I did buy the "Sensus" electrode from LG Medical, but they look exactly like the ones that came with my Quell. I have not used them yet, but the packaging is the same and says Quell but also has a "Sensus" sticker on it as well. They are however 30% cheaper from LGmedical as opposed to buying replacement electrodes here on Amazon for the Quell electrodes. I have also noticed that the elasticity of the sports band is losing ground, but I have not washed it yet or tried to shrink it in any way. It is easy to dislodge the electrode from the device while wearing it if you bump it while wearing it. The iPhone app could be better. It is convenient to adjust the intensity or monitor the progress of the therapy, but sometimes loses connection despite both the phone and the Quell being fully charged and in close proximity. It then loses count of the number of sessions. Some times the automatic restart function fails for some reason, not sure if this is an app issue or a device issue. I tried wearing it while I slept, but that did not work well for me. I'm a light sleeper and just could not stand anything attached to my leg while sleeping, it was not an issue of the sensations of the therapy, in fact I fell asleep with it doing it's thing. It was supposed to be set for continuous therapy though the night, but as far as I could tell, it stopped after the first session. Could be operator error. If the electrodes lasted longer and were less expensive, it would get a solid "5" rating and for me is well worth the price. YMMV greatly.

Quell needs to fix the electrodes and Strap.
first off the unit does work it does relieve pain. I am serious about pain because I deal with it a lot. I am not disappointed in the fact that it works nor am I disappointed about the price...BUT...the electrodes are GARBAGE! and the Strap that holds the unit to your leg and the electrodes is GARBAGE. I have used this unit for 6 days. I have used up one of the electrodes already the gel pads ball up and stick to your leg a little of it comes off every time you take it off and after a few days it's ready for the trash can. the more damage they take the more the create irritation like itching and Sore spots where the electrodes sit and they are expensive. the strap is 6 days old and it's stretched out to the point the Tens Unit flops around or it unsnaps from the Electrodes. I have already had to order a few of them...As much as they are charging for this you would think they could put some decent quality electrodes and a strap that would last a few months. I know I'm not the only one complaining and I thought well they are not using it right so I have been VERY CARFUL babying this thing only to find out that it's true they are GARBAGE and Quell should step up and fix this issue.

Has changed my life!!
Oh my God. This has changed my life. After 3.5 years of 24/7 pain due to autoimmune disease, this device, used in combo with the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), my pain was gone in two weeks. I know that sounds like a fraudulent claim. I was skeptical, and to be honest I would probably not have sprung for the cost of this device except that in starting the AIP you are supposed to give up taking NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Advil, etc.). So I needed an alternate source of pain relief. And since this product got such good reviews, and came with a 60-day money-back guarantee, I figured it was worth a shot. (When you are in immense pain for years on end you will try almost anything, and $250 is really not a lot for pain relief when you are in chronic pain.) The cost of the electrodes also gave me pause. But I gave it a shot. Within a few days I thought I was detecting a change. And within 10 days my pain was down from a 7-8 out of 10, to a 4-5. Now 6 weeks after starting the Quell, it is a 1-3. And to be honest some days I forget to wear it because I'm not in pain. I can't really say if using the device alone would have the same effect; I do think a lot of it is the combination with the AIP. But I am now drug-free in terms of pain relief, and I was taking a LOT of Advil. They say this device doesn't work for everyone, and some folks have had complaints about the electrode quality and sleeve quality. I have had no issues. The sleeve does seem to be getting beat up from so much use (curling at the corners where you attach it) but I like that it is thin because you can wear it under pants with no problem. It charges quickly and holds a charge for a long time. The device itself does seem to be made of cheap plastic but so far I'm fine with it. The phone app is great too, you can change the intensity from your phone. When it's on it feels like a light tingling, just in the spots where the electrodes attach, like your leg is going to sleep. It does not bother me at all, and after a while I don't even notice it. I have been able to sleep with it on no problem, although when I wake it does seem to be off, and I don't know if that's supposed to happen or if it's not working in night mode. I also have had no problem with the electrodes lasting 2 weeks. You can try using electrode gel to make them last a little longer, I bought some but have actually not tried it yet. This device could not be easier to use, and it has no side effects and is drug free. I recommend everyone take advantage of the 60-day money-back guarantee and give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

UPDATE: No longer "so happy I could cry"
**UPDATE- April 23rd, 2017**---- I've contacted the company multiple times and every single time I ask about the calf ache and if it's a standard side effect or a sign to stop using it, they blatantly ignore it. It's incredibly sketchy. They said they know there's a problem with the strap and would do me the "courtesy" of sending a replacement (though it's their defect). There's something sketchy about this company. The calf ache isn't going away. I haven't used the strap in over a week and I still have a dull throbbing ache in my calf. I got this to LESSEN my pain, not add another thing to the list. --------------------- **UPDATE** After using it regularly for a few weeks, the fabric strap it comes with has warped and stretched to a point that the device won't stay put. The gel pads are the only thing holding it together, but the device will pop off if I try to move with it on. It still helps with pain, but I can't be as mobile while I use it. Also, I have a weird kind of ache in my calf now. I'm a little worried as to why that's happening. It's worth it to me for the help I get with my chronic pain, but I don't want add permanent leg pain to my list. I'm still using it, but going to contact to company to see what's going on and get a replacement strap. --------------------- I was *super* skeptical about this. I fully expected to have to return it. I've had chronic pain for as long as I can remember. I've tried everything imaginable but nothing helps. I thought the strap wouldn't help with stomach cramps since it was on my leg. After throwing up from pain the other day I decided I might as well try Quell. Even a little bit of relief would be more than worth it. When a surge of pain began, I strapped it on and set it up with a pretty high tolerance level. I decided not to take my pain med to get a real sense of what it could do. I went about my business, letting it run its cycle. After half an hour I realized I'd forgotten I needed a pain pill and the pain had subsided. Okay. I did NOT want to get excited. It could be a coincidence or fluke. I've seen pain specialists and tried all kinds of things and this is just a gizmo I saw on Amazon. Its got to be in my head. I've now used it for 2 days, every time I have a surge in pain. I was actually able to go grocery shopping...something I could never do after an "attack" started. I'm now convinced this thing actually works. (If anything changes, I'll update my review). Sometimes it works really well, other times it's minor. Either way though, I would have taken out a loan to get this. If you don't have chronic pain, you probably can't comprehend how any kind of relief is priceless. NOTE: It does not completely make all pain go away, but it dials it down a noticeable amount. For me, that's worth the world. I have it on a high tolerance, so at times I have to turn it down because it will slightly sting (kind of like a pricking feeling). But for the most part, it kind of feels like after your leg falls asleep and you wake it up and it has that tingly feeling - it's just a pinpointed area that has that feeling. It's not painful or anything, but you know it's there. If you have chronic pain, I would highly recommend trying this. It essentially tricks your brain and tells it to knock it off with the pain signals.

It works!!!
I cannot recommend this product more. It really is life changing. I have fibromyalgia for more than a year and I tried many things to alleviate the pain: I saw 6 different doctors and tried muscle relaxers, opioids, acupuncture, chiropractor, cupping, massage, immune system boosting oils and mushroom powders...Among all of them, nothing helped me alleviate the pain like Quell did (Cymbalta has been useful too but it has not been sufficient for me to function normally). I was totally hopeless, but gave it a try thinking that I can return it. The first day I used it, I did not feel any difference and was about to get disappointed thinking that this is just like any other thing that allegedly helps some people but not me. But I continue to use it and I started feeling less pain right in the second day. Normally, I am not able to walk, stand up or sit down about more than an hour. I feel an urgent need to lay down because of the severe back pain. So usually I was spending time in bed. I took a year off from work because of the pain. With Quell, I was able to spend 4-5 hours outside, walking around and shopping. It was like a miracle! I was so happy to be able walk pain-free that I did not want to go home on that day untill my husband said that he, a healthy person without any chronic pain, got tried eventually. I was so happy that we went out to celebrate my new pain-free condition(the night of the same day). Well, I need to clarify that I am not totally pain-free. The pain is still there, but this device got rid of about 50-80% of the pain I had before. I am thinking about going back to work after using this device. It is very easy and convenient to use. It is definitely worth the price. Indeed, thinking its impact on my life, I might as well be willing to pay more. Think no more; it is definitely worth trying. I hope it works for everyone. If not, you always have the option to return it.

Electrodes in Starter Kit NO GOOD.
I live in Brazil, so I bought the starter kit with one spare pair of electrodes. I thought the electrodes came attached to the device. NOW I realize that I only have a packet containing two electrodes and that it appears that I'm going to have to spend a fortune to control the pain. So far I haven't even got to the part of attaching the electrodes , looks like I've been done out of one pair somehow. I've already spent $375,00 dollars , after I've used it I'll give my opinion of the effect . So far I'm sort of horrified by the cost & difficulty & how to get the electrodes! Ok, so today 14th June I officially put the belt on my calf, calibrated it like the instructions tell you to and found that I could hardly feel anything. On following the instructions to INCREASE intensity it didn't seem to be obeying me & I got an intensity so strong it made me jump. On trying to diminish the intensity it just didn't diminish. I ended up turning it off and starting all over. I didn't mange to get it to a comfortable intensity. After literally one hour on, one hour off it started again & worked for about thirty minute then stopped and it looks like the first week of electrodes wore out. I checked and tried to turn it on but there was a red light which, I guess , means that one weeks electrodes wore out in less than two hours. Tomorrow I will start again with the second batch(one weeks supply) of electrodes. But I'm not impressed, I was prepared to be pacient , but I didn't expect the product to simply not work properly. I have someone bringing me more electrodes in July but if the second weeks supply does what the first one did , by then I'll probably have had some kind of medical attention to cure my pain.

It really works!!
Remarkable product to reduce back pain and general body aches. Stimuli is adjustable and you will quickly forget that you are wearing it. You just feel better. My back pain is the result of poor posture and disc surgery. I use it with the Spectro 360 Electrode Gel to extend the life of the electrodes.

I have had a stroke, and hoped that the Quell would have worked for that. I have had no relief. I am still on all the same management meds that I started with. I feel it could help a different type of pain.

Quell reduced by 50 per cent the pain my wife feels on the right side of her body that she has felt since her stroke. Need to continually replace electrode pads is an expense that needs to be factored in if you are interested in the product.
