What type of yarn, please?

Good Evening, Thank you for your question. I have not opened the box, but by reading the description and looking at the pictures of the mesh canvas, it looks like the yarn would be the thickness of a yarn used to make rugs (similar to the weight of Aunt Lydia's Rug yarn). I hope this helps!
