Great bed, not so great instructions
The bed is really good, very strong and provides plenty of storage below. The wood is thick and solid and was an amazing price. It’s very comfortable to sleep in and the only negatives I have is that the instructions were a pain to follow but the bed was simple enough that they weren’t really needed.

Bought for my daughter, she is happy with it - perfect for compact spaces
British made product. Pine wood seems good quality, if little bit rough finishing on some of the wood pieces supplied. You may need some sand paper to smooth out the rough edges. Instructions, better than I expected. I will always liked assembling IKEA products as no words required and picture sequence and clarity of the pictures always seemed perfect. Instructions, not quite IKEA standard, but not bad either, detailed. I found, best to separate the items and label them with post-its and then follow the sequential instructions. Electric screwdriver saves a lot of time. Would buy from them again, definitely. The delivery man was very pleasant and helpful - did not dump the items on the pavement citing insurance restrictions. Gave him a hand to bring the boxes inside. Perfect!

Overall good bed, but prepare for hard work assembling it.
Overall, I'd say I'm pleased with the Icarus bed. The pine is good quality and well formed. The dimensions were perfect for the space available. It is relatively sturdy (more on that). And ultimately, UK made, so kudos required for that. There are several quite major negatives though:1. The Fixing D 90mm conformant bolt is of dreadful quality. Almost all of the hex heads on mine stripped out during assembly and I needed to use a pipe wrench to engage them up fully. This scrapped the wood in several areas requiring more sanding.2. The desk is of inferior chip board quality and doesn't reflect the material used in rest of the bed. I opted not to use it and instead cannibalised the shelf unit to make the desk.3. Though the bed can take weight well, when my daughter climbed the vertical ladder, the bed became unstable and wobbled even though secured to the skirting board (supplied fixing). So I fabricated bracings (again, from the cannibalised shelf unit) and bolted the bed to the wall, which resolved the issue.4. Instructions could be better. Though in all honesty, this is a minor gripe. Ikea probably pay 10's of millions of pounds a year to this department. I think with a bit more of a logical approach to the instructions, they could be rejigged and would work perfectly. So, to sum up, I would recommend this bed to anyone. However, if you are expecting to throw it up in half and hour and not have to make your own adjustments as the situation dictates, you may be disappointed.Just a quick note to Strictly Beds and Bunks, I would have been happier spending ÂŁ20-30 extra if the fittings were better quality and the desk was made of pine so I didn't have to chop up the shelves...

Really happy with this purchase
Looks great. Sturdy and was easy enough for my husband and one of his friends to build, took them about 2 hours all in. Bit of a shame to see the price has been lowered quite a bit further to when I purchased it on sale a couple of weeks ago, but still feel like we got a pretty good deal so it's all good.

Ladder is not wide enough
If you’re a heavier person ordering this , beware , the ladders are quite slim and since it’s a straight ladder getting down is a bit challenging . I find that the bed is keeps wobbling when getting on and off . But it is quite sturdy

Great 👍 👌
Instructions took a while to figure out, like any other flat pack.Definitely need two people to put together.Happy with the end product. All bits labelled well. The fact it's universal both ends, actually made this easier to build because it didn't matter if it went wrong. Measurements were bang on as I managed to fit what I had planned to out underneath in the.clearance space.Perfect for a Box room bedroom, allowing room for a gaming area. And plenty of storage.

Decent bed. Okay price. Would recommend but with issues.
The instructions, and marking on the wood was great, really easy to put together and easy to follow (one or two small issues but nothing serious). The wood was decent quality, and the nails and assembly items were about average for this type of pack builds. The chair is about what you expect, cheap and fit for purpose but nothing special. Book shelf is sturdy and holds decent weight (would been nice to have a backing to it though). The price, well this is were I have a small issue with the product. I just do not think the price fits the product, when you can get other beds that offer much more for less. Got this for the open space, and easy access, but I would preferred a stronger build. Maybe a back board for the book case, and the Wall side of the bed have a thick MDF board rather then just the posts, as the bed is not very sturdy. Also the height, be very aware of the height. Anyone that has hanging bayonet lights, or any lighting really that is near the bed will be an issue.

Great, sturdy bed and very good value for money
We got the bunkbed for my 7-year-old son for Christmas, to create a bigger playing space in his bedroom. It works perfectly for a 7-year old: I can't stand straight under the bed with my 1meter70 as my son does, but I CAN still use his desk - which I am doing now while I write. The bed is sturdy and easy to assemble, though obviously one needs to have a long free morning or afternoon to get it done (I reckon about 4 hours for experienced people). Having checked the market, it seems not possible to me to find a cheaper bunkbed with the same quality: one would end up with a flimsy piece of furniture, and as the bunkbed is TALL (I did climb up there!), you do not want to have that, as it would be unsafe. So this bunkbed was the perfect choice for me.Btw consider the fact that probably a robust cleaning lady would not want to climb up there to change the bedsheets, you have to do it yourself. But it seems perfectly safe even for an adult to use occasionally, so for me this is not a problem. Also consider the safer option to fix the bed to the wall. And I would not recommed it for a child under 6 years old. Also, I would not use a super-thick mattress because the safety rail would become too low: my mattress just fits.Delivery: they are prompt and true to their word, and give you an exact time slot for the delivery by email: great service even during the busy Christmas period.Oh, and the plus side: the wood simply smells heavenly!
