The truly authoritative source on Holley carburetors
If one wants to understand carburetion, engine air flow requirements, volumetric efficiency, fuel flow requirements, air/fuel ratio, air/fuel mixture distribution, and detailed carburetor operating theory, and dial in his/her carburetor (especially Holleys), this is the book to read. It is chock full of information regarding selection and use of carburetors and carburetor tuning information. Purchase and study this book (second or third editions, dated 1987, 1978, and 1976, maybe the first edition dated 1972, but not the fourth edition dated 1994). The second edition and the third edition contain the section on Road-Race Tuning, which has been deleted from the fourth edition dated 1994, and therefore have the most complete and thorough information available from truly authoritative sources on Holley carburetors. The book was written with the support and cooperation of Holley, and contains much information not available elsewhere, including information not known by present Holley tech line personnel. Contributors to the book include the Engineering Section Supervisor for High Performance Carburetion at Holley, the Technical Services Director at Holley, the Service and Education Manager at Holley, and the P.R. and Advertising Manager at Holley, and Mike Urich was Manager, Holley Aftermarket Engineering. This book is authoritative!I just checked again, and my copy of this edition dated 1987 has the section on road race tuning. I do not recommend the 4th edition dated 1994, from which the Road Race section and other information was deleted to make room for fuel injection.

Great Buy and Completely Thorough
I used this book to complete my first carburetor rebuild. It helped me to identify my specific carburetor (in order to obtain the kit) and walked me through the rebuilding process. It included key adjustments, pictures, and detailed instructions. The book also contains the history of carburetors as well as how they function--an interesting and technical read for people who want to learn. I knew very little about rebuilding and tuning carbs, but now I feel as though I can talk about them (and work on them) with some confidence. This book was a great investment--especially for Holley carburetor owners!

"fuel" for thought
Well, I bought this book mainly because I was installing a Holley analog Pro-Jection TBI fuel injection system. It covers many holley carbs from 2 barrels, 4150's, 4160's, and 2 and 4 barrel pro-jection. I was surprised slightly that they didn't cover the "economaster-4360" but then again, this carb has been out of production for over a decade. It would have been a PERFECT book if it covered the 4360 but overall. This is a very worthwhile book, whether you are looking to learn about Holley carburetors or fuel injection.
