AquaQuartz-50 Pool Filter 20-Grade Silica Sand 50 Pounds, White

The media could not be loaded. So happy with this sand! I bought it as a new substrate for my new 40 gallon turtle tank (my turtle is still a hatchling btw), because the river rocks I've been using as a substrate have made it painfully difficult to clean my tank. I was worried this sand would require a lot of pre-washing/rinsing, so I tested it out in a small 2.5 gallon tank to see if it would cloud it up, (see my video) and nope! It goes in clean and the water stays crystal clear. The sand immediately settles on the bottom. Even if I brush it around at the bottom of the tank with my fingers, it still doesn't cloud up. It's a beautiful natural color; a nice natural sandy white. The grains are quite fine and sugary, so I'm not worried about my turtle having any issues if he happens to ingest some. I am SO excited to pour this into my new 40 gallon tank and set up his new home! He's gonna love it and it will look AMAZING!Note: I did buy a pre-filter sponge for my filter's intake tube to make sure no sand gets into my filter!

Haven’t actually used it yet but the grain size seems just right. Seller easy to work with! 1 bag damaged in shipping, I didn’t need it and they were willing to simply credit me back instead of ship a new one. Fast response. Would recommend!

This product came recommend to me for use in my aquarium. Washing the sand was very easy. Only took a few minutes and no residual dust was left floating in my water. It looks amazing and is a fraction of the price of pet store aquarium sand. 3 bags for my 75 gallon tank and it has a depth of about 6 inches. 2 bags probably would have been enough, but my fish are diggers.

Perfect color and grain size for aquarium use (what I'm using it for). I would've given it 5-stars but the bag had a hole in it, so it and the box it was in leaked sand all over the place. Not sure how much sand leaked out in transit. The box was undamaged, so it wasn't caused by the shipping company. Just the bag having a hole caused the problem.

The media could not be loaded. This sand is exactly what I was looking for. Rounded, soft micro-pebbles, off-white appearance. BUT WASH IT!!! I know some reviews said you don’t have to, but do it anyway. It may be that there are dust particles in some/not all bags, but you will regret it if you get one with dust and didn’t wash. See video for deets. Still gets 5 stars as aquarium sand goes!!!

Got a lot for the price n the color keeps too n easy to work with

The media could not be loaded. I bought this because the very expensive aquarium sand I bought was awful. I sifted through the old sand every week when I vacuumed and did water changes to keep it from compacting, and it was still turning black and gross. My poor fish. After a month I knew I couldn’t keep that in the tank any longer. It took two days for me to receive this after ordering.First off, it took me a half an hour to rinse two bags of this sand. So much better than the four hours I spent rinsing one 20 lb bag of the other sand I had (and I had to use 4 bags).This sand is so much smoother, feels soft, and my cories and kuhli loaches love it! I have jungle val, octopus plants, crypts, and amazon swords-they we’re doing awful in the other sand, but this sand they are thriving! I did use root tabs, but within 3 weeks the roots are well established and the jungle Val has already sprouted new plants! I included pics of the first day I planted them and how they look just 3 weeks later.I am SO beyond happy, my plants are happy, and my fish are happy. It was an expensive lesson after throwing out the overpriced brand name aquarium sand, but I highly recommend using this instead!

I just upgraded my 20 Gallon long to a 75 Gallon Tank. The least amount of Sand in my opinion is 100lbs so at $50 - Two of these is pricey. I will say it took me 5 minutes to Wash it all in Buckets, and it was spotless. The 2nd Rinse and it was clear water. I added 1/2 pail into 5 gallon buckets, added water, stirred with 5' Broom Handle. Beautifully White. Came up 50lbs short went to Home Depot and bought Sakrete Play Sand opposed to Quikcrete after reading up on them a bunch - The Washing took a lot longer and I had to toss out (I have Penguin 350's Filters with the rear filter being plastic snap together containing Pillow Stuffing) 3-4 Packings which doesn't much matter as Pillow Stuffing is cheap. In less then 24 hrs it cleaned in the tank, settled and was Sparkling . So $6.99 for 50 lbs is cheaper, just be prepared to wash more. Or this stuff is so good you could probably just throw it in, and the Filter System will clean it inside of 14-16 hoursJesse
