It works on the strength of its own signal so a WIFI system is of no use to this system. That means you can use the system where ever there is 110 outlets. I tried other camera systems which use various APP's and for the senior citizens using this system the app was too complicated. This system uses its own monitor, which is very portable, very user friendly and has a goof picture quality, Being able to speak to the person on the camera end is very helpful. You can always hear them when you have the monitor volume turned up but they can't hear you unless you push the button to talk. The cameras are truly plug and play. Very easy to use. The remote control unit being it's own unit and not an APP on the cell phone is very handy as often, the app on the phones would mean having the phone in the same room and it could ring and there goes your opportunity for peace and quiet. You can connect up to 4 cameras and I did for the system I installed to help friends. Cameras are numbered based upon how they are initially activated. The entire system is very easy to use, works even better than I had hoped and makes this incredibly difficult job my friends have of caring for their 97 year old sister in law a little easier. This product is incredible and easy to use. Many of the other systems and cameras I tried for their needs were not easy to use and didn't work as marketed. The parental unit has a scan mode that flips through the cameras every 30 seconds. I prefer this to a split screen monitor because then I still get the sound. **Q: When monitoring two rooms, if scanning one room and sound is detected in the other will I still hear it?** A: No, you would only hear the active room. We use the scan1 setting, it's fairly quick, probably 5 seconds or so. Hasn't been an issue. **Q: Once mounted to the wall, is the camera easy to remove for frequent travel?** A: Yes, you just put a screw in the wall and the camera hooks on to screw. And you just slide camera up to remove from the screw, very easy to remove and replace camera. **Q: Is there anyway a shelf for me to mount on the wall?** A: No, shelf is not included.
