Black Widow Epic Collection: The Coldest War

The Ever Changeable Spy
The first Black Widow Epic Collection consisted largely of reprints from other already-collected titles like Iron Man and Avengers, culminating in her first, brief solo series. This followup volume is thankfully a lot heavier on unique material, and really showcases the usefulness of the Epic format for following a character who has made scattered appearances over the years rather than one long ongoing comic. The volume actually opens with a text recap of Natasha's time in the Daredevil and Champions titles, helping to bridge the gap between the first Epic and this one. Then we launch straight into a selection of material that has a pretty wide range of takes on the concept of a 'superspy.'A black and white Bizarre Adventures story highlights the ruthless, cutthroat world of espionage, while a four-issue Marvel Fanfare story has more of an over-the-top, James Bond feel, helped by the delightful pencils of George Perez creating every assassin and secret base. A Solo Avengers appearance is brief and forgettable, while four graphic novels by different creative teams keep things varied and reaffirm the Widow's place in a post-Cold War world. The less said about an awful Marvel Comics Presents story the better, while a Daredevil annual appearance feels like part of an incomplete bigger tale. The volume wraps up with a three-part Journey into Mystery arc that's breezy but fun.Extras include a seven-page Paul Gulacy portfolio, Black Widow's Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe profile, five pinups, original art from Joe Chiodo and Larry Stroman, and the covers to the previous Web of Intrigue collection. It really is a handy volume, even more so than the first one, and the perfect way to experience the sporadic solo adventures of Marvel's premier woman of mystery.

"Epic Collection - Black Widow: The Coldest War"
Espetacular coletânea de várias histórias clássicas da Viúva-Negra há muito ausentes das prateleiras. Leitura mais do que recomendada!

Great stories!
I love the older stories, so my opinion is gonna be biased. I just like the simple stories of the hero's verses the villain. In these stories the villan was easy to identify and wasn't based on politics. My opinion only.

Love the stories!
I love the movie of black widow, I had never read a black widow comic before and I think that for someone that does not know her story this is a great start. I love the variety of stories it contains.
