FeatherArtist Club SS Scotch Wood Folding Straight Razor

I’ve been shaving for more than 40 years, and I’ve always been curious and fascinated by the idea of using a straight razor.I thought the advice of a trusted, barber, and he steered me away from less expensive alternatives, as well as the traditional razor requiring a strap to sharpen from time to time. The Feather wooden handled razor uses replaceable blades, eliminating the need for constant sharpening, and some of the hygiene concerns that may come from it. It feels comfortable in the hand, and after just two attempts, I found it much easier to use than expected. Only a couple of minor nicks was a small price to pay for an exquisitely close and comfortable shave.I don’t have a particularly thick beard, so I have found that for me at least the single razor will last roughly one month so a replacement pack of 20 blades should last me the better part of two years. Combined with a badger brush and a decent quality soap/creme lather, the daily ritual of shaving has taken on a special role in my morning ritual.It may not be for everyone, but for those considering the switch from mass produced disposable blades using three or more razor blades to deliver a close shave, this traditional “back to basics” approach to men’s grooming is perhaps best experienced with a razor of this quality.

Really get a good shave. Feels good in the hand and looks great too. The spring hold on the blade is strong yet it's easy to replace as needed. There's only one angle I had to avoid so as not to get bit by the square edge of a blade, but that beats other brands where you have a LOT of issues with the square edge. Overall highly recommend.

I can't explain how much this Folding Straight Razor is amazing, the weight distribution , the quality of the wood, at the steel , the system of the blade holder, I wish I know about this years and years ago. best in the market so far, you will not waste your money with this, this is the deal the real deal. trust me

This is a top-of-the-line professional straight razor that I bought just because I deserve it!Once I retired, decided that I would like to have a beard and mustache and saw the need to obtain quality grooming tools, I chose this premium razor.You do not have to sharpen this folding straight razor! While blades do not come with the product, I purchased a box of double edged Feather Artist Club Professional blades that come with 20 easy to load blades per cartridge.You simply squeeze the clothes pin like portion of the product and insert the no touch blade using the cartridge ejector into the razor and stop pinching the loading portion of the straight razor.Unless you are a professional barber, you or your loved ones will probably be a bit squeamish at the thought of you using a straight razor to shave. I know my wife was and rightfully so.This product requires extreme care and practice using the correct pressure and angle while shaving, but once you get the hang of it though, you will enjoy the smoothest shave you have ever had and acrisply neat edges around the boarder of your beard and mustache.I have cut myself numerous times. None were serious, but all reinforced my need to be careful. In short order I have obtained blood free skills while trimming the hair under my nose around the top of my mustache, around the edges of my beard and mustache, my sideburns, around my ears and on my neckline.I know! I can almost hear your “Yikes!” and see you wince.The trick to a safe, comfortable and clean shave is to take your time using the correct tools and supplies with care and lots of practice.Although this product and the necessary supplies are not cheap, over time, this product will pay for itself if you were paying a professional to groom and maintain your facial hair.Be careful, but appreciate this product and the fruition of your new skill set. It is worth it.Enjoy!

I did a lot of research before deciding in a razor and I am NOT disappointed! The wooden handle is comfortable and beautiful. I will say that the straight blade does take some getting used to. I also recommend the Feather Artist Club Super Blades 20ct with this razor.

I've been shaving with a straight razor for 16 years and for the last two years I've used a inexpensive barbers hair style razor because I just got tired of keeping my razors sharp. I finally decided to buy a better quality razor with disposable blades.I'm only through one shave with the feather razor so my opinion may change but my first reaction is it's completely different then any razor i have used before. The angle is very forced on this razor because of how little the Blade is exposed, I had to change the way I held the razor a little and it has a very soft smooth feel because the metal that holds the blade rubs you face as you shave. This isn't a bad thing it's just different feeling. The only complaint I'd have is that because of how little the blade is exposed cleaning the blade as your shaving is a little more difficult and when I finished shaving I actually had to use my brush under the tap to clean the blade, still far less work then keeping a blade sharpened.I think this is a great razor for someone new to straight razors or someone like me that loves the shave of a straight razor but grew tired of the work. Overall it gave me a fantastic shave.
