Incandescent still the best-5 stars. You may save a dime on LED, CFL, and all other but your health is a risk. Sad that politics (Title 24 and building departments-due to state politics) and tree huggers can wipe out an industry and a zillion jobs to replace what was OK, with bulb design replacements that are terrible and not OK for everyone's health. If you don't believe it here, research the health effects of these new not so great bulbs. Incandescent bulbs still make the most sense!

Stil the gold standard...
I needed a 3-way bulb, and I think that incandescent light is still the gold standard for desk lighting to get a strong, focused, warm light. I don't even mind the "waste heat" because I frequently feel too cold. At any rate, the bulbs last a few months of near-constant use, though the 50-W filament seems to fail first, leaving the others still working. I hope they don't prohibit this type of bulb anytime soon. :)

This may be the first time I ordered something from Amazon and was disappointed. Because after just a couple days of use, it went out. I went to turn my light on and boom, it made a little bit of a pop noise and gone. I looked at the bulb and it looks like it was burned or something on the bottom of the bulb. Anyways, not gonna bother returning it was only 6 bucks. But never getting a light bulb from these guys or Amazon. Maybe I got a defective bulb I don't know or it's my lamp. Gonna go out and get another one.

Install correctly and you will be happy
Learned from a friend that 3-way bulbs should be screwed in correctly. This means NOT reaching up under the shad to insert, but rather REMOVING shade and installing from ABOVE.Beautiful light.

lamp great, bulb not great
No, it didn't meet my expectations. I got a lamp, and the bulb that was "recommended" and the bulb didn't do the 3-way like it was supposed to! Thankfully I only ordered one. I wound up going to the hardware store and got the bulbs I needed! I do love the lamp though!

Wow, what a savings!
The savings on two of these is fantastic when compared what I have to pay here in the small town I live in. And of course they are becoming harder to come by.
