Silver really catches BIG fish!
I bought these because I saw that the guy Coop on the Thresher Fishing Youtube channel was using them. I went down to the Galveston south jetty and tried them out last week. Fished the gold spoon about 10 times and no luck. I changed to the silver spoon and on the first cast something HUGE hit it! I was using 40 pound braided line on a Penn Slammer III and a 10 foot surf rod (thanks Thresher guy!) Whatever it was, it was stripping off line like it was nothing. I managed to reel back in the lost line several times, but it was not tiring at all. After about 15 minutes, I finally, I had it about 25 feet in front of me but still too deep to see what it was, when the line broke! You could have heard me holler from a mile away. Yes, they catch fish, but it is up to the fisherman to actually land it. Also, note to self ALWAYS use a heavy mono leader when fishing off a rock jetty!
