Great cooler
It’s expensive but it works well and keeps cold for a long period. It’s well insulated and keeps ice for a couple days.

Very nicely built cooler
Some of the reviews of this cooler are ridiculous. Ice turns to lukewarm water in 5 hours? I guess if it’s a couple of cubes! A big bag of ice with NO cooler would last 5 hours without being lukewarm water. So those reviews must be from Yeti employees! The product info claims 5 days ice retention. I loaded mine (the 21 quart) on day one with a typical ten pound bag from the convenience store. Ten pounds of ice fills this cooler approximately half full, and I added 3 beverages(see photo). Then I put the cooler on my boat parked in an enclosed garage. After 24 hours most of the ice was there with water forming down below. After 36 hours, plenty of water mixed in. After 48 hours I’d guess maybe 50/50 water and ice. (See photo) At 60 hours there was still ice floating on top. At 72 hours nothing but ice cold water left. The garage temperature was mid-upper 70’s during the day, mid 60’s at night, not in sunlight, no extremes. So with typical use, which I’d define as maybe 12 beverages and a bag of ice, no way it will last 5 days. I suppose it would hold 20-25 pounds of ice if that was all that was in there and that would likely last 5 days under cool-moderate conditions. I believe ice retention claims from cooler companies should include the critical testing information, not just an across the board statement like “5 day ice retention” with no criteria included to determine how they arrived at that conclusion. But I don’t need 5 days of ice and wouldn’t expect ANY cooler of this size to be able to do that under normal conditions and use. Just ain’t gonna happen. The size of this is clearly the size for day trips, on the boat, to the beach, for a picnic, etc. and so... This thing is built like a tank. Hinges look bombproof. Handle is solid doesn’t feel in the least flimsy nor rattled around loosely. The tie down points/brackets was the big selling point for me, as I intend to strap it to the front bench of my Gheenoe boat as shown in the photo. The other big selling point for me was Plano products are made in Plano Illinois, in the good ole USA. I buy American made when possible. Well there’s my big, big, dissatisfaction and disappointment. The fine print on the sticker indicates otherwise. USA company Plano like so many others, helps support the ChiComs by having this product made in China by cheap labor. Big, big, big disappointment. But I guess I won’t return it as it is the exact size I need and with the tie down brackets it’s perfect for my boat, and it is a nice cooler. Just beware if you think you’re buying American made. And if you need 5 days of ice you need a much bigger capacity of cooler filled to the brim with ice.

Well made cooler
We bought one of these coolers and immediately bought a second for our son due to the durable construction of this high quality cooler. It keeps things cold and with ice even on the hottest of days. My husband tested out the ice claim for days and if at least 50% ice, it will remain for days. Cold packs last roughly 24 hours. It is a big upgrade from our previous igloo and rubbermaid coolers from a big box store. I have also heard of great customer service from this brand if anything breaks years down the road.

Love
Worked well for me! Took this on a 3k mile trip! Was small enough to pack easily but held everything I needed and kept it nice and cold. Durible. Lightweight. Seals well.

Appearances can be deceiving
Bought this without fully reading the reviews on this. Which I almost never do. Sometimes I research things so much that I don't even buy it. Wish I had done that with this one. Put in 7 bottle s of water, 1 energy drink and 2 decent sized freezer packs. All of which were in the fridge days before putting in cooler. Then put one 10lb bag of ice in it ( that's all that would fit). This was at night around 7. Left it in the back of my truck that has a tonneau cover. Got to work the next morning at around 7 and the cooler was sweating. That's when I knew that the 5 days that this said it would last was a lie. Opened the cooler and the ice was maybe a 1/4 of the way gone. When I got done with work the ice was well more than half gone. Now mind you I do live in Florida. So ideally I thought it might last maybe 4 days. But was hoping for 3 at minimum. The next morning all the ice was gone and my drinks were cool but not cold. Do yourself a favor pass on this cooler. Definitely not worth what they are asking. The quality of the material seems fine enough but whatever is inside that we can't see isn't.

Know what it is…a very decent cooler
**EDIT** I’ve been using this cooler more than any regular human uses a cooler, and I’ve made it a point to come back and amend my original statement on two things… 1: the lock down handles hold up under all circumstances, and 2: four stars move to five stars. This little guy is my best pal and I love this cooler muchly after about 6 months of use!!! Continue reading…👇🏼 CONS: Great looking cooler, nice features. Very bothered that Plano decided to let China make this product for them, though. Most of their stuff is made in the USA. Why does that bother me? Am I xenophobic or racist? No, not a bit. It’s because China typically produces things very cheaply. The lock down handles on this cooler ARE going to snap at some point. They are not sturdy enough. They feel very thin, and very brittle. I’m feeling exceptionally positive that they will have a failure after being in direct sunlight for a stretch of time…which is what coolers are supposed to be capable of. The weather stripping embedded in the lid should be a little thicker. The clamps are totally effortless to close, and there should be some tension to create a nice, tough, airtight seal. That being said, it did pass a water test upside down with no leaking whatsoever. Price. This cooler should be a $45-55 cooler, but it is $89 (at time of my order). Also, can I address the inner measurements?!? It holds like 4 and 12/13ths of a standard beer can going side to side…could you not have engineered it to 3/16ths more of an inch to put 5 beers in there? Seems like an amateur oversight to me. PROS: On the bright side, my ice is staying very cold and not turning to water! It does seem to live up to the 5-day ice retention, but don’t expect it to be waterless ice, and do keep in mind that if you put warm beers on cold ice, you will have instant water production that no cooler in the world could stop, and then it won’t last five days. If you put ice cold beers into the cooler with fresh ice…I’m fairly confident that your beer would still be ice cold on day 5. But who puts beer into a 14qt cooler and expects that much beer to last 5 days? Not me, that s#|*+ is gone by evening number one, and I’m then adding more warm beers to the ice for the next night. CONCLUSION: I bought this cooler to go on DUI rides on my surrey bike. It is totally a perfect cooler for that purpose. It would also work for someone who hates themselves enough to go fishing, etc. This 14qt is a perfect size for my purposes and does work very well. I’m wondering what the other reviews here are all about with the ice in at 8am and lukewarm by 1pm…? Are you putting a hot Dutch oven full of boiling water in your ice chest? So…this is a good, lower-priced version if you’re looking for something in the Yeti/Rtic realm of coolers. It does not stand up to either Yeti or Rtic in terms of build quality, however. You get what you pay for, and I’d like to see this cooler be $20 cheaper. Worth the money, though? Yeah…it was worth it for me. 4 stars for the weak clamps. Everything else I’m super happy with. After several months of use, it’s become my beverage toter of choice, and I am very happy with it; but it has received many a sticker personalization by now, and that is crucial. I’m still waiting for the clamps to snap on me. And I’m also not wholly convinced the tie down strap holder thingies won’t die eventually either. Still, though….worth the money for me.

Not crazy about the locking handles
I should of paid closer attention to the design. The locking handles always get in the way when closing. Wish they would've made this size with the rubberized handles that stretch. Also the "keep cold" estimates they mention in the listing; are incorrect. In fact, it's nearly half the time they mention. 2 days in the house and ice melted quickly.
