After sitting on the fence for a while, first impressions are good
I've been on the fence about buying a rocketbook for nearly two months. I decided to buy one because it was slightly on sale, and I discovered that the Flip had lined and dot pages, which I had been wanting. The writing surface was my biggest concern. It feels like writing on photo paper with a 0.7 gel pen (e.g. a Zebra Sarasa). In fact the page itself feels much like matte photopaper. It's not bad, especially if you are used to gel pens which go down very smooth. If you like resistance (e.g. from a pencil or ballpoint), it's probably going to require you to adjust. The first few letters seem to go down lighter than the rest. You really do need to give it the recommended 15 seconds to not smudge - I drew 15 small circles one second apart and then dragged my palm over all of them. Only the 14 and 15 second circles didn't visibly smudge. Pressure on the page doesn't affect line darkness as much as stroke speed - of course the slower the stroke the more ink goes down and the more careful you need to be not to smudge it. Erasing with the frixion and the microfiber cloth appeared to yield good results, though it remains to be seen how many times a single page can realistically be reused.Build quality is average. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside, which isn't helped by being only 5mm thick. My Deep Space Grey wasn't as dramatic looking as in the photos - I almost wish I got a more popping color. Also, for an "eco-friendly" alternative to paper I was a little disappointed with the amount of plastic packaging it came in.I was actually pretty impressed with the scan quality. I really had to try hard to get it to not give a good result. I tried different light conditions and it seemed the better the lighting the sharper the strokes appeared on the page. It corrects for perspective quite well too - taking it at a 45 degree angle produced equally good results to straight down. Scans take about 4 seconds to capture and upload. The biggest test still remains - can this notebook stand up to the test of time and wear? I plan to update in a few months!

A Huge Disappointment
I love gadgets and after reading the reviews for this I was excited when it landed on my doormat. Didn't look as good as expected but as long as it worked I wasn't too fussed.Opened it up, downloaded the app and had a go. First time not too shabby. Handwriting conversion was a bit hit & miss but maybe it's my dodgy handwriting.Next day off to work I go with my new toy. After using the book at my first meeting I eagerly opened the app. It took an age to scan the page - kept zooming in and out, scanned multiple copies instantly before I could press to stop. Half the page was missing from the scan and what was there was so feint you couldn't read it. Tried rescanning somewhere with more light - again very poor copy.I cleaned and dried the page and off I went to my next meeting. Using another page in the book I had exactly the same problem. I wrote in black, blue, red and green using the Frixon pens but no joy. For me a complete waste of money. I'm off to buy a digital notepad instead.

A wonderful tool!
I've only owned this a few weeks. I got it mainly in order to keep "Reminders" and "To-Do Lists" for myself. I find them cumbersome to list on my Outlook diary and/or on mobile phones. It's easier for me to jot down quick notes on here. I love the flip-over format of the spiral binding at the top -- it doesn't interfere with my writing hand when writing on the back side of the page(s). I haven't used the App features yet. I just love the functionality so far, and the "build" of the products (I also ordered the outer cover and some extra pens). Overall, a terrific helper!

Great notepad. Better than more expensive versions.
Great notepad. The feel of writing on it is half way between a whiteboard and pen on paper.Great app for scanning. No faults. No complaints.Does what it says.

Clumsy software
I liked the notebook. The software is clumsy. Unable to Cloud connect between the iPhone and the iMac.Rocket book help was prompt and friendly.Trouble is the product did not work. Back to Notebook and pen, and Rocket Book to the bin. Disappointing.
